  • "Riverside cottage and Duddon valley did not disappoint in anyway."

There is a peacefulness and tranquillity every where you walk & coming back to Riverside cottage was a perfect ending to our days- beautiful & tastefully furnished giving a warm & comfortable place to enjoy even more tranquility. The attention to detail in all communication could not be faulted, even with the owners calling us to check all was ok as the previous review mentioned a problem with the shower. We applaud your transformation of the cottage and in providing such a beautiful holiday home. The folders with all the walks were incredibly helpful- we would recommend them as well as the local pub the New Inn which we frequented regularly with the dog!! Thank you

Dear Graham Thank you for your kind feedback for Riverside cottage and the Duddon Valley. It is our greatest pleasure when guests enjoy the cottage and valley as much as we do, and are so pleased that you enjoyed the peace and tranquility. We hope to welcome you back as our guests in the future. Kind regards Sue and Geoff Property Owner

  • "First visit to the Lake District it was a long 7 hour drive so we were pretty exhausted on arrival with our two dogs ,cottage was clean but not a sign of any welcome pack not even milk ?"

So luckily we had supplies . Views were lovely walks fabulous but shower not working couldn’t reach owners as no signal also fridge compartment that holds cold water ( none in situ )lid was mouldy we were booked in for a week but left after three days but that’s fine our decision, also water comes from borehole normal for that area I guess but no mention on Sykes site also bed slats in main bedroom need attention as they aren’t fixed in place . Log burner was wonderful .

Dear Ian, thank you for your review, we would like to take the opportunity to respond. We have contacted our housekeeper and she has confirmed that a welcome tray of tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits was provided ready for your arrival, as we do appreciate that our guests may have had a long journey. Due to our rural location, we do suggest on the pre arrival information that you are sent, that you either stock up with groceries on route or that you do an online order with a supermarket, ready for your arrival. Regarding the shower, we have again confirmed with our housekeeper that it was working on the day you arrived and was working yesterday when they cleaned the cottage after you were due to leave. We also provide written instructions on how to work the shower as well as all other appliances, in the Welcome Information provided for you to read on arrival to the cottage. Due to the location of the cottage, there is no mobile signal, however we do have super fast wifi in the cottage, enabling guests to communicate via watsap, email, or messenger and we provide our email addresses, mobile phone numbers and landline number as well as Sykes contact number should any issues arise while you are on holiday. However you did not contact us nor Sykes. Had you done so, we would have been able to help you with working the shower and any other issues. We are sorry that the lid of the water dispenser in the fridge was mouldy. We have addressed this with our housekeeper. Again, due to the location of the cottage, there is no mains water in the valley, therefore our water supply, as you rightly suggest, comes from a bore hole. Our Welcome Information confirms that the water is filtered and is safe to drink. We are required by law to have the water regularly tested and we also provide bottled water to use if you wish. We will ask Sykes if they feel it should be noted on their listing. Due to the design of the bed, there is nowhere to fix the wooden slats to the metal bedframe, however the wooden slats stay in place with the weight of the matteress on top of it and it has often been said that the bed is extremely comfortable. As stated above, if you had contacted us during your stay, we would have been able to resolve the issues for you. We pride ourselves on being very responsive to our guests as we sincerely wish for them to enjoy their holiday in our cottage. Property Owner

  • "This was a well thought out cottage ."

...we struggled to find any minor problems or faults. It for us had everything ....particularly the easy chairs by the glazed doors at the back. We even purchased some bird seed for the feeders The only problem was for one of our dogs who would have loved to make "friends" with the rabbits out the back

Dear Jennifer, thank you for your kind feedback. Our dog is also rather fond of the rabbits in the garden! We have just updated the kitchen to allow more space for the chairs by the patio doors looking out at the view, so its lovely to hear that you enjoyed them. Kind regards Sue and Geoff Property Owner

A lovely comfortable bed, an amazing view, a fabulous garden, peace and tranquillity and the best walks ever right from the doorstep! We have stayed in many cottages all over the country, this was one of the best. Can’t wait to go back again.

Dear Sharon Thank you very much for your kind review. It sums up beautifully so many of the lovely features of the cottage and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We would very much look forward to welcoming you as return guests in the future. Kind regards Sue and Geoff Property Owner

  • "Where do we start?"

! We had the most wonderful week away at Riverside Cottage. Tucked away in a remote location, this was a perfect base from which we explored the Lake District. We enjoyed a couple of lovely walks from our doorstep but also many well-known walks which were just a short drive away. The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed, including a very well-stocked kitchen. The cottage is well set up to be dog-friendly and we loved being able to have our dog with us. We loved spending our mornings having coffee looking out over the garden and lovely view, and our evenings cosied up in front of the fire. The main bed was very comfortable and the bathrooms were all very well appointed, with the bath being a real treat. The check-in instructions were very clear and our communication with our hosts has been very good, especially as they have been so helpful in arranging to return something we had forgotten at the cottage. We hope to stay at Riverside Cottage in the future and will definitely be recommending this cottage to friends and family.

Dear Samantha Thank you for your lovely review of our cottage. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in the beautiful Duddon Valley and were able to enjoy the cottage with your dog and enjoy the walks from the door. We very much hope to be able to welcome you back to Riverside Cottage in the future. Property Owner
