"Another relaxing stay at the Old Peat Cottage."
Well equipped, tastefully decorated and a very comfy bed. What a lovely touch that a box of shortbread, a Terry's Chocolate Orange and breadsticks were left out for our arrival. Very much appreciated with a mug of tea after a long journey. We will be back again. Thank you.
You are very welcome Catherine and as a gesture for your lovely feedback pls let me know next time you fancy returning to make sure you are well looked after

"Things that needed to be clean were but there were definitely areas that hadn’t been cleaned for a while."
Ran out of hot water while showering. Where to park needs to be clearer. Garden is mentioned in the listing as a selling point but is majorly overgrown so should be maintained. Asked to strip bed covers before leaving but told to leave pillow protectors and mattress protectors on so no idea when they were last changed (they were stained as was the duvet) The stairs need to be pictured in the listing with a clear description as not everyone would manage going up and down safely (steep and narrow)

"Stayed in Old Peat Cottage for a week at the end of May with my partner and we both absolutely loved our stay."
Beautiful location with easy access to several locations around the Lake District, amazing views from the cottage, very quirky interior with paddle stairs which we loved. Bed was lovely and comfortable!
Would highly recommend

"Where do you start, horrendous I would say."
On arriving at our destination we were unable to locate the property at first, this was due to the front being overgrown with weeds. We eventually noticed it but were unable to find where you parked, we noticed a lady in the garden of the cottage next door and enquired with her, she advised us where we parked and also where our bins were located and the garden that came with the property, its a good job she did as non of this information was in the cottage. As for a usable garden as advertised on this site, it was NOT usable it was overgrown with weeds, thistles and nettles, there was even a thistle growing by the side of the front door of the property standing as tall as me, I'm 5ft 1.
On entering the property the smell of damp hit you immediately, there was black mould growing up the walls, slug trails on the floor, we did even meet some slugs on a morning when we got up. The extractor hood was disgusting, the filter didn't look like it had ever been cleaned or changed.
The sofa was a cheap PU Leather one which was as hard as rock, it gave you a numb backside from sitting on it.
Every cottage we have stayed in as always greeted you on arrival with a welcome pack, such as tea, coffee, sugar and a pint of milk, not this one, there was teabags and sugar and what should have been coffee in canisters next to the kettle, the sugar was damp, as were the teabags and the coffee was all solidified and crusty, no milk though.
There is no great book for you to leave comments, I wonder why!
There were no cleaning products, they ask you to leave it clean but how when nothing is provided, all that was there was a small sponge with a green scouring pad on to wash up with and washing up liquid, there was no hoover or mop to clean with.
The shower room was not very inviting, the floor around the toilet was stained with god knows what and the extractor in the bathroom didn't look like it had ever been cleaned.
Overall this cottage is not fit for human habitation and needs reporting, sykes obviously don't vet the cottages they advertise enough

"This is our second visit to Old Peat Cottage."
It was as thoroughly enjoyable as our last visit. It is a very cosy cottage and even though it is a old stone building, it was always nice and warm. Again, the cottage was well equipped with everything you would need and the decor was beautiful. The bed is extremely comfy with good firm pillows. It was a delight to bring my dog Bill back again and so pleased that our 6 month old puppy, Poppy got to experience such a wonderful accommodation and the Lake District for her first holiday! We hope to return again.

"What a lovely cosy cottage."
Beautifully decorated and well equipped. Just the perfect size for 2 people and two Border Collies. Good location, close to lots of the tourist attractions but at the same time hid away in the peaceful countryside. Sadly only a short time after we came home one of our border collies, Nell passed away but my husband and I were just delighted that her last holiday was spent in your beautiful cottage and in the Lake District. We hope to return again very soon.
Thank you for the lovely feedback. I’m very pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to see you again

"More empasis required on description of the stairs."
They are usuitable for older and infirm people. A ladder would be safer

"Left a day early."
The cottage was cold and damp . When we got home we could still smell the damp on our clothes. The shower room was tiny and no heating in the room , so never used the shower while we stayed there. Would not recommended this cottage. At 55 years old one of the worst cottages we have stayed in .
