Very spacious property with a useful off-street parking spot and a comfy dining room and lounge for warming up and recovering after a hike! Would definitely recommend.

  • "Well we’ve just returned from Chare Close Cottage and what a fantastic time we’ve had."

The cottage is lovely and exactly as described (except WI-FI isn’t listed and the cottage definitely has this which is a bonus) Nick the owner was in touch via email and gave us his contact details should we need anything, which we didn’t. The cottage was spotlessly clean, spacious and had everything we needed and more for our stay. The nearest pub in the centre of the village is around a 5 minute walk away. Haltwistle is a lovely village with very friendly locals and we will definitely return. There are many things to visit locally and loads of great walks. We would definitely recommend this cottage and will hopefully return in the future. Thanks Nick

  • "Beautiful cottage and had everything in it to make us feel at home."

However, we took our elderly labrador with us for what will be her last holiday. We booked this cottage knowing it was described as a '5 min walk into town (all up hill) and had a lovely garden.' No where in the description did it mention that the garden could only be accessed by 10 steep stone steps, making it unaccessable for our dog unless we physically carried her up! Had we had an elderly parent with mobility issues with us, they simply wouldn't have been able to go in this lovely garden. Whilst it didn't spoil our stay, it certainly made a difference to what I had wanted to enjoy.

Also our dog found it very homely. Ideally situated to get out and about very close to some Roman Wall sights including a nice walk along Haltwhistle burn to Cawfield Fort and then pop into the Mile Castle Inn dogs not allowed inside plenty of outdoor seating. Loved it so much already booked for next year cant wait to go back.

Accommodation very good & located in the town. Haltwhistle close to the famous Hadrians Wall by car & by foot. Plenty good pubs, food takeaways, shops & the accommodation car park is located at back of building. Owners were very helpful & nearby if required. The accommodation has everything to meet your requirements. We will most likely re-book this accommodation in the future when the weather is a bit drier & warmer to take advantage of the historical area with Hexham, Corbridge, Carlisle, Hadrian Wall & Forts as well as picturesque villages all in short driving time. Many thanks from Anne, Robert & Phoebe (the dog) Lindsay.

We used it as a base whilst we walked the Hadrian's Wall Path, but there are lots of other things to do locally. We were looked after by the owners, a slight problem with the central heating which they sorted immediately, and they gifted us a mug each featuring Hadrian's Wall - such a lovely gesture.

  • "The decor of the cottage and furnishings did not match photos on site I would never have booked had I known."

Same horrid colour in every room bathrooms included plus noises from adjoining rooms in b & b the noises and closeness of main road also not mentioned made having a pet with us upsetting.

We are so sorry our Cottage didn't meet your expectations. With regard to the décor, being a family home we do occasionally redecorate and change wall hangings so we can only apologise if this is not to your taste. We no longer operate as a B&B and can only assume any sounds from our next door property resulted from our reunion after many months of Covid isolation with our NHS front line worker family with exuberant grandchildren. Again many apologise for the road noise. It would appear apparent from online photos and limited research that we are on a minor village road which is very handy to access local facilities and for the Hadrians Wall bus. Property Owner

Add on a good parking space, washer/dryer, towels and a comfy bed, it made a fantastic base for our holiday. Also it was very close to Hadrian's Wall and it's lovely walking whilst being a lovely, scenic drive over to Kielder Water for a bit of cycling - a bit of advice, hire an electric bike at Kielder, you will have an amazing day out.
