  • "Well equipped cottage in beautiful location."

    We had snow and very cold temperatures when we stayed but the cottage was lovely and warm with plenty of hot water at all times. Great to have a folder full of walking routes which we made the most of and the pub opposite was a bonus. Only small negative was that we didn't find the sofa very comfortable but that would not prevent us from booking again.

  • "A lovely cottage where care and attention to detail is evident."

    The owners have really thought about what would be useful for people coming on a walking ,cycling or general outdoors holiday. Plenty of room for boot storage and a place to hang wet coats. A comfortable place to come back to. We really liked the garden and were intrigued by the glowing pebbles. The folder of walks provided is very comprehensive and provided us with some ideas for the future using rail and bus. Also the owners were super helpful with regards to lost property.

  • "Property hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived!"

    Last guests dirty linen on the floors and nothing clean to put on. First time in over 20 years of self catering holidays. The owners should change their management company (this is not Sykes, they’re the booking agent). Once that was resolved the property was comfortable, cosy and as described. Kitchen was comfortable for two and we enjoyed al fresco breakfasts and dinners in the garden. Would go back, but only if we knew the management company had changed.

  • "On arrival bit disappointed to find hoards of people outside cottage due to close position of the pub however we couldn't hear them once inside."

    Also disappointed that there was no direct access to the stream from the garden, our dog would have loved a paddle and that was the deciding factor on choosing the cottage.

    The pub can be busy at the end of the day for a short period of time when walkers arrive back and enjoy a drink or two. As you say, they cannot be heard inside the cottage or in the garden. We are sorry if you wanted to access the stream but this is not possible at the cottage. There are various locations within a few minutes walk where water can be accessed.   • "Lovely cottage, fantastic for walkers."

    The only issue is that is what not clear that parking in front of the cottage was not allowed. The guy at the pub opposite told us we should park in the car park for which there is the permit but you do have to walk over the bridge with no footpath which is a bit daunting avoiding the traffic. Otherwise excellent !

The parking to the front of the cottage does not belong to either the pub or the cottages so we have bought a car parking pass for our guests. As well as walking from the front of the cottage over the bridge, the car park can be accessed using the right of way over the back gardens of the adjoining two cottages.   • "We had a really enjoyable week at South View Horton-in-Ribblesdale."

    The Cottage is really well equipped and ideally located for visiting North Yorkshire. Lots of interesting walks can be done from Horton including the 3 Peaks Challenge. Allan and Claire have left Maps, Walking Books and suggestions in abundance so a pleasant evening can be had planning the next days hike over a glass or two and a pleasant meal. We stayed in Mid April and the Electric Heating coped well. The dual burner was there if we needed it. The beds were extremely comfortable, a must after a long days hiking. Parking was by permit 100 yards away so no problem there.Elaine's Tearoom at Feizor is worth a visit. We have recommended the Cottage to all the family and friends. Like Arnie, I'll be back!!

  • "Had a great holiday!"

    The cottage had excellent facilities was very warm and comfortable. Only noticed the folder with walks in towards the end . Just to let you know think fire alarms battery’s might need changing! Recommend the cottage to everyone Thanks Peter and ginny

About the location

HORTON-IN-RIBBLESDALE

Settle 6 miles; Ingleton 10 miles.

This beautiful Ribblesdale village sits within the National Park and provides home to lots of pretty traditional Dales buildings, a lovely Norman church and two pubs. The surrounding countryside is magnificent, offering the ideal location for fell walking, with the famous Three Peaks Walk, Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough offering some of the most challenging walks in the country. The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway passes through the village and passes some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. The Ribblehead viaduct, completed in 1870 is a magnificent structure and the sight of a steam train passing across the top is one not to be missed. The nearby market town of Settle offers a wide variety of pubs and restaurants whilst the market square is a real delight featuring the Shambles, an historic 3-storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall. The Victoria Hall is a cinema at weekends (Fri & Sat) and offers other activities such as folk nights throughout the year. Natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within easy reach, as are the nearby Dales towns of Skipton and Malham and the delightful villages of Ingleton and Hawes.
