  • "Driftwood Cottage is a lovely little home from home."

It is presented immaculately clean with everything you need for a staycation. The owner was very nice on the phone and overall very accommodating. Thank you so much Leanne. The only thing I would say to Skye is to put on your listing that the area is a hot spot for ticks. (Local vets words) That way we would have been more prepared for our dog who unfortunately got a tick attached. Never the less our stay was very enjoyable.

Thank you so much for your kind words about Driftwood and we are so pleased that it met all of your expectations. Unfortunately due to the beautiful surroundings of Driftwood it does attract a lot of wildlife, including deer which are carriers of ticks. I am sorry that your dog managed to pick one up and I am glad you got it sorted. Thank you for your suggestion and I will look into putting information into the guest pack within in the property of how to remove a tick easily for future guests. I am so pleased to hear that it didn't spoil your week at all. Property Owner

  • "The views over the bay are stunning - changing as the light & weather turns."

Driftwood had everything we needed & wanted, making our stay comfortable & easy. It makes a perfect staging point for the Lakes at Windermere, Conniston, as well as visits to Carnforth, Arnside & Barrow-in-Furness. Only downside is that the pub along the road is no longer open, not something under your control but worth updating on the details.

Thank you so much for you feedback and we are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. The pub is still undergoing work and thank you for bringing it to our attention that this is not stated on the Sykes website, this has now been updated for future guests pre-booking. Property Owner

  • "Lovely place and very clean with good facilities, views were lovely."

Only gripes were that the roller blinds didn’t fit or keep the light out so impossible to put our daughter to bed and property was over run with fly’s to the extent it took three cans of spray to try and keep on top of it. Other than that would recommend but remember no bath. Good place to be to get into the Lake District

Thank you for your review and we are pleased that you thought the property was very clean with good facilities. I am sorry that you had problem with fly's, Driftwood is surrounded with beautiful neighbouring gardens, its in a designated ANOB area including the protected woodlands behind and the estuary with its grasses are directly on the door which can attract fly's at certain times of year. We have checked the property fully after your comments and we can not see any other reason why you should have had so many. The roman blinds are made to measure but due to them being fitted to the wall they can move away slightly, leaving a small gap down the side. we are very sorry that this caused an issue and we are looking into ways to resolve this. Thank you for your comments Property Owner

  • "Both stylish and cosy this is a wonderful place to stay, with everything you might need provided."

We had a small problem with the TV and the owners' response was speedy and helpful. The only thing to be aware of is that the cottage is located on the main road through the village. It has amazing views, but at certain times of day it can be noisy sitting outside ( school run time, end of the working day). The double glazing is very effective so no problem indoors and at night it's really quiet.

Thank you so much for your review and we are so pleased that you had a wonderful break and liked Driftwood, it means a lot to us. Property Owner

  • "Wow what a cottage."

We loved our stay at Driftwood and will definitely be back. The cottage was lovely and modern and spotlessly clean, really could not fault it which is great in this current climate. On the whole it was really well equipped (some oven proof dishes would have been good). The bottle of wine, milk and tea and coffee were very welcome. We really enjoyed the nepresso machine and that was a great touch. The views were outstanding and so many places to visit and see. You could easily just explore the local area and would be kept busy all week. Cottage was in easy reach of many places and getting to it was very easy. We loved walking along the estuary and I really enjoyed running along there most days. The pub 3 doors down is really worth a visit, really lovely meal and staff were very friendly. Thank you we really had a wonderful week away just want was needed and I really hope we will be back very soon in the future. We have recommended the cottage to a number of people Thanks The Timms Family

...it was spotlessly clean...& even had the most amazing scented handwash ever for our use-a really restful place to stay-would highly recommend. Bring your bikes & cycle to a cute nearby village called Arnside or sit in the suntrap out the back...or paint the views. The choice is yours!

With beautiful walks from Sandside, the hamlet has a pub, which is believed to date back to 1671, along with the Kingfisher Restaurant.
