  • "Cleanliness of the cutlery plates and glasses was poor w had to re wash all of them."

    general maintenance of the property poor damp patches on wall. After leaving the property we were accused of scuffing the walls which were already scuffed this put a downer on the return of our holiday.

  • "We had an absolutely amazing stay here for the week."

    The house is beautiful and clean with everything you could need. The beds are so comfortable, something I always struggle with when going away. The large roomy kitchen was great and the cosy living room was lovely after a chilly day on the fells. We definitely hope to return.

  • "Absolutely fantastic property."

    Everything you could need including comfy beds, well appointed sitting room and kitchen. Felt like home immediately and the location between Windermere and Bowness gives you great shopping, eating and vistas all within walking distance. Very quiet location with easy parking. Highly recommended and next time we visit The Lakes we’ll definitely stay here again.

  • "The property was gorgeous!"

    Plenty of room with a lovely outside area and most importantly very comfy beds! The only downside was the one bathroom, we didn’t realise how much frustration this would cause when booking, but one toilet when 6 people are trying to get ready in the morning was difficult. Other than that a lovely weekend with family in a great location.

  • "Absolutely loved this cottage."

    We've stayed in numerous cottages in both Bowness and Windermere and this was one of the best. Great location, facilities and super comfortable for the two of us and pooches. There were some significant cleanliness issues upon arrival but we reported these to Sykes immediately and overall, it didn't affect our stay. We'll definitely be back.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!"

    The property was finished to a very high standard with three good sized bedrooms, kitchen/dining room and cosy lounge area. The under floor heating was an added bonus (didn’t realise the property had this until we got there), making life a lot easier when coming in from the wet and cold. The kitchen was well equipped including added extras such as an ironing board, radio, washing machine and tumble dryer plus a variety walking books to help decide where to go. The property is in a great location too with Windermere just 5 minutes walk away and Bowless only 15 mins walk. Both offering a nice selection of restaurants. This was our first visit to the Lake District, with lots of lovely walks for us and the dog to enjoy, and definitely won’t be our last. Thanks again for a lovely property. Apologies for the late review.

    We had a fabulous few days staying there with our kids - everyone loved it. The house is well equipped and very clean and tidy. Everyone commented on how comfy the beds are!! The only minor thing that I thought could be improved is that it would be nice to have a welcome pack of essentials. And some instructions for the induction hob as I struggled to get it to work!!!

Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 8.7 miles.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip.
