As keen walkers the location at the foot of Helvellyn and many other routes is great. Good pub nearby and close to local shops and lake. The cottage has everything you could need - modern kitchen, small conservatory and real fire. Very clean and well looked after. Recommended.

  • "Thank you for a very well equipped, clean and superbly located cottage."

The rooms were very comfortable and of a generous size. The beds were comfortable and the toilets, shower, bath, etc. were excellent. Oh, I nearly forgot to mention the view from the patio and conservatory. Superb. We could spend a day just enjoying it. Any guests with a second car would have no trouble parking in the layby 50 yards down the road. Just two nit picks : although the wardrobes were well equipped with clothes hangers for shirts, tops, etc., none were available for trousers; and the conservatory was only big enough for two people to sit and enjoy the view.

  • "What a lovely property - what a lovely view."

Great kitchen, well equipped, with a super range cooker. There are two very comfy sofas in the lounge and the tv is a good size with decent signal, which can be tricky in the lakes. And the little sun terrace with sun lobby , facing South, was a lovely place to sit and enjoy the view. We only used the first floor as there was only two of us, but the bed was extremely comfortable, the bedroom spacious and with plenty of storage, The bathroom with spacious too and the shower was excellent. You can enjoy plenty of walking locally and Glenridding is a lovely place to be. The pub down the road serves excellent beer and the Inn on the Lake is a useful place to eat, the café in the village is good too. Thank you, Fellview,, we have already booked to go back again next year.

Several popular walks which can be started from the doorstep. Glenridding village and Ulswater also within easy walking distance. Great view of the valley and mountains from the conservatory. Very comfortable lounge with log burner, bluetooth music player and stretch out couches - perfect for the long winter evenings we spent there. Thoughtful Christmas tree, mince pies and prosecco left by the host were a treat! Highly recommended.

Perhaps a little more in the way of kitchen utensils e.g. 1-2 pint Pyrex jug, fish slice, spatulas but that is nit-picking. We like to heat milk in the microwave for porridge , coffee etc and it's more economical than using the hob. Thank you for a lovely break.

The cottage was very comfortable and has been fitted out to a very good standard. The landlady has clearly put a lot of effort into offering a lovely cottage. Great position for walking and local pub. Would be happy to return but policy has now changed and dogs are not allowed which rules us out. • "Cosy cottage in lovely location but a few improvements need to be made."

No dryer as suggested in other reviews - may not be an issue for some but when walking and especially with a child it would make a big difference. Some other basic things not available including oven gloves (requests guests to bring own - never come across this before), and no high chair. The main thing that we felt let down by was the cleanliness - dog hair everywhere on sofas and carpet when we arrived which makes it hard to see the need for an early 9am check out time for cleaning.

I’m sorry that you had some issues. We clean each time to a high standard and take this very seriously. I didn’t get any request for a high chair but I could have sorted this out for you if you had contacted me. I hope this didn’t spoil your holiday. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was excellent - in a really good location for walks from the front door."

Plenty of space over 3 floors and well equipped. Central heating and a wood burner which kept it nice and warm. It was really good value for money and had all that we needed for a good holiday - we were sad to come home. Both local village shops sold decent supplies such as wood for the fire, baked goods etc at a reasonable price. We had a power cut during our stay, good communications from owner, it was due to large storms which hit area during the week. A few things to consider: - There was a lot of dog hair on the carpets despite it being hoovered. We don't own a dog, but if one of the party had an allergy it would be problematic. A new hoover could improve this. Our clothes picked up the dog hair. - 1 extra big pan for the kitchen would be handy - we cooked all our meals and found there wasn't a pan big enough for larger meals. - A note about the stream culvert outside should be left for guests - it was overflowing due to heavy rain and we unblocked the drain of debris which was covering it and stopping it draining, worth guests knowing to do this in bad weather. - As others have mentioned shifting things around in the cupboards to make room for storage of food items. A deep clean of drawers as crumbs etc in them.

  • "Super warm cottage in a wonderful position."

..ideal winter base for walking and jogging with the family and the dog. That was our third visit and we hope to return. Minor gripes: lock mechanism on the door of the upstairs toilet is loose and falls off if not used with care; the dustbin was full and not emptied on the Monday or during our stay so we left our bag in the porch; also hard to avoid the pothole in the concrete when you turned steeply into the terrace...could be easily filled in!

  • "Very well maintained and comfortable home."

A review mentioned poor quality linen however none of us had a complaint, our stay was very cosy. The furnishings were very nice, the oven in particular was very posh and a novelty to use, though it would have been good to have some cupboard space for food storage as we had to just leave food on the counter. The few issues were very minor, the rotary light switch in the kitchen buzzes when switched on (perhaps faulty wiring?) and many of the lightbulbs around the house are bright white LEDs. I like to see energy efficiency being considered, and I believe replacing side lamps in the lounge/bedrooms with warmer/orange LEDs bulbs would make the rooms look warmer in the evenings. In cottages similar to this I often find dvds/books/maps left for visitors which is a nice token but not something I walk in expecting. Overall a lovely stay and would definitely recommend.

Thanks for your feedback and I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. Please be assured that the electrics have been fully assured by the electrician. We removed the books, games due to COVID as directed by Sykes but have made Sky channels available. Property Owner

The property, however, would have benefited from a few additions. An outside light to the rear, instructions on how to open the keypad, more equipment in kitchen such as serving spoon, trays, kitchen towel, surface cleaners etc. The pillows were far too flat for my liking and the bedding, sheets etc were basic. A visitor book would have enabled me to leave this feedback, we could not find one. All the above are easy fixes and we would be happy to stay again if these things are corrected.
