  • “We stayed in Spinney and had a brilliant week there.”

It was cosy and a home from home. The kitchen was well equipped and there was a little freezer inside the fridge. The only issue we had was the wifi barely worked for us, but we didnt bother raising it as we actually liked being able to switch off.

About the property

High Borrans Spinney is a modern 1 bedroom holiday lodge at High Borrans Farm near Windermere.

Tucked away from the farmyard, the lodge offers a stylish and welcoming retreat, with modern décor but a cosy log cabin feel – the perfect place in which to relax and unwind.

The lodge sleeps 2 and is perfect for couples and welcomes two dogs.

With an open plan kitchen, living and dining area, and patio doors leading out the spacious decking and outdoor furniture, you’ll be enjoying the views and fresh air with your morning breakfast or evening glass of something chilled.

From the moment you leave the main road and head towards High Borrans you will sense the peace and tranquillity of the area.

Driving down the country lane you arrive at the traditional working farmyard and on through to the lodges.

High Borrans Farm is a 1000-acre hill farm, with a flock of some 1200 Swaledale ewes and around 25 beef suckler cows.

The land rises to 1300 feet on heather-clad fell tops and the farm is a wonderful environment for nature lovers.

The farmland is an Environmentally Sensitive Area and parts are also designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

On the nearby fells you are likely to glimpse red and roe deer, and closer to the farm, there are tawny and barn owls, and many varieties of bats living in the old barns.

For adventure lovers a number of popular mountain bike routes run through the farmyard itself.

This is a quiet farm with no onsite facilities other than laundry and e-bike hire.

As this is a working farm please keep your dog under close control.

A tranquil break from the modern world, but with the bustle of Windermere a short drive away.
