A group of four unique cottages set directly on the shores of Windermere, on the site of the Freshwater Biological Association in picturesque Mitchell Wyke Bay, 1 mile from the village of Far Sawrey, 1.5 miles from Bowness-on-Windermere via the car ferry and 4 miles from Hawkshead within the beautiful Lake District National Park. These outstanding holiday cottages were once a research station and boathouse, and have been designed and transformed into holiday homes with balconies overlooking Windermere. These are some of our finest cottages, with contemporary furnishings throughout, including open plan living areas and luxury bathrooms, combined with a unique lakeside location offering guests an unparalleled view. Conveniently situated close to the Windermere car ferry enables easy access to all that the National Park has to offer. Four wonderful cottages for an idyllic retreat in magnificent surroundings.

The property

A contemporary terraced cottage at Mitchell Wyke Bay, in the beautiful Lake District National Park.

Named after Winifred Frost, a fish biologist and known for her contribution to the FBA, this superb cottage has an open plan living area with patio doors opening out to a private balcony over Windermere.

Along with a luxury bedroom with a super king-size double bed, makes this a perfect retreat for exploring the area.

About the owner - Founded in 1929, The Freshwater Biological Association (FBA) is a thriving membership association, independent scientific organisation and a registered charity.

The FBA promote freshwater science through a number of ways, such as innovative research, science projects, training courses and workshops, maintained specialist scientific facilities, national and international scientific meetings and publications.

About the location

FAR SAWREY

Hawkshead 3.9 miles; Bowness (via ferry) 1.5 miles.

The village of Far Sawrey has a pub/restaurant, whilst Bowness, with all its shops, restaurants and leisure facilities, is just a short distance across the lake by ferry. Also close by is ‘Hill Top’, once the home of Beatrix Potter, and Hawkshead with its picturesque 17th century cottages. Footpaths lead from the grounds to the village and Claife Heights - a noted beauty spot of forests and tarns. Watersports are close at hand on Windermere, along with Lake Cruises and the majestic Wray Castle to admire. Fishing can be enjoyed on nearby Esthwaite Water and, of course, fell walking.
