  • "Lovely and clean."

Beds were superb! Very comfortable! Lovely views. Welcome pack was exceptional, Bread, cakes, jams, milk, coffee, tea, wine. There was plenty of toilet rolls, kitchen rolls washing up liquid etc. some of the things you tend to forget to bring to bring from home! Can’t find any fault at all!

  • "Fantastic property which is well equipped and perfect for a break in the Lakes."

The location is peaceful and picturesque with absolutely stunning views at the rear of the property. You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but are only a 2 minute walk from the Queens Head which does amazing food and a good pint!

Fantastic views. Traditional cottage thoughtfully modernised and well equipped. Comfortable bed and chairs. Walks from the door.

  • "Well equipped cottage on the inside."

Lovely, huge main bed, beautiful views. Ironing board but no iron. No real relaxing chairs to sit on outside. The temperature in the first part of the week was chilly, no heating on so resorted to a small electric fir in the living room.

  • "Lovely cottage, great location and two good pubs within walking distance."

No shops nearby but we knew that so shopped as we toured around the Lakes. Thoroughly enjoyed everything and many thanks to the owners for keeping such high standards.

The property

This dream 17th century cottage in the pretty village of Troutbeck has been lovingly restored, ensuring that none of its traditional Lakeland magic has been lost.

South Stonethwaite Cottage is located at the head of the village, close to the fabulous Queen’s Head and with wonderful views across the valley.

For a small party looking for the quintessential country cottage, there can be no finer property than this.

The cosy, dual aspect sitting room is at the heart of the property.

An open fire, comfortable furnishings and pretty views make this somewhere you won’t want to leave.

A door leads from here into the charming, landscaped garden.

The kitchen is simply stunning.

Large and airy, with a slate floor and granite worktops, it is equipped with everything guests could possibly need.

French doors open on to a pretty south facing balcony with seating and gorgeous views.

Where better to enjoy a lazy weekend brunch with the papers? Two lovely bedrooms are on the first floor, again beautifully appointed and the epitome of country charm.

The larger room has a super king size bed which can be separated to make two single beds, and the second room has a double bed for one person.

The house bathroom is equally pretty, with bath with shower over, basin and wc.

This romantic cottage could not be better situated.

The lively villages of Ambleside and Windermere are close by, while there are many quiet walks to enjoy from the doorstep.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
