Would love to return when we could enjoy the garden. No negatives.Lovely quiet cottage in a beautiful place. The local pub is very disappointing though.Great walks from the doorstep and we were blessed with very little rain.

  • "Excellent time, so peaceful, loved the fire starter pack."

The cottage was spotlessly clean, warm & very comfortable with everything you need. A very relaxing time, lots of walks & nights around the fire. Will be returning.

  • "Tiplady cottage was well equipped, clean and warm."

Much appreciated. Also, the owner generously provided milk, tea and biscuits. All equipment was in good working order and of good quality - as were the furnishings. I cannot fault this place, as it was also located in a quiet spot. We will be booking it again!

  • "Tiplady is a comfortable and cosy cottage in the centre a delightful village in a beautiful part of Yorkshire and we really enjoyed our week there."

It is very welcoming, clean and well-eqipped with everything you might need - though we would have appreciated an ice tray for the G&Ts and fluffier pillows, and we think towel rails in the bedrooms would be useful as there is little space in the bathroom. The shower and WiFi were occasionally temperamental and there is little WiFi coverage in the dining area. The parking space was difficult to manoeuvre into, but there were plenty of parking spaces very close by. We really appreciated the box of walk books and local information and we really enjoyed playing the Pub Quiz game! Thank you - we would definitely recommend this cottage to others and return to it ourselves.

  • "Excellent property which makes good use of space."

The quality of the fixtures and fittings is exceptional without being ostentatious. The setting is very pleasant too in a small row of terraced cottages in an unspoiled village. The single bathroom is a touch confined if you like contemplating life from the throne. The dedicated parking space is a bit tight due to cars parked opposite, tho my Astra had no problem. Anyway there's other parking nearby. I had a lovely stay. Thanks!

The location is fab, close to Hawes, Askrigg and Leyburn. Facilities in the cottage are great. Very clean and comfortable. Owner is attentive. Lots of little walks on the doorstep. Lovely park for the kids. Tearoom in the village is amazing, lovely full English breakfast and home made scones/cakes. Fish and chip van visits village every Tuesday. Would recommend this property. It’s my second visit in 6 months.

Very nice garden area too with table and chairs under pretty clematis covered gazebo. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was provided. Excellent information booklet provided by the owners with clear instructions on how to operate things like heating system. In a pleasant village, within the beautiful surroundings of the Yorkshire Dales. Very nice cafe just around the corner overlooking the village green. It is very comfortable and clean. Every thing is well presented and nothing has been forgotten, right down to the boot shelf. The easy to follow instructions for all appliances is very helpful. The cottage was nice and warm and the owners were generous with the heating (this is not always the case). The area is idyllic and we will defiantly be making a return visit.

Need more instructions re using heating and hot water, heating didn’t warm up until 7 o’clock. Appliance instructions need to be noted in booklet. Microwave complicated to work out how to use. Shame toilet is on ground floor. Otherwise a great and comfortable. Place to stay.

Thank you Alan and for your kind personal email. We’re really sorry it wasn’t as easy as it could have been to get things up and running and we do like to know about it so that others can feel nice and warm as soon as they arrive. We are going to put some “quick start” instructions in a prominent place so future guests can get everything switched on quickly when they arrive. I’m pleased you still managed to enjoy your stay and thank you for the feedback. Property Owner

About the location

HAWES

Leyburn 16 miles.

Hawes is a popular market town in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire and is regarded as one of the honeypot tourist attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Standing between Buttertubs and Fleet Moss, the town is an excellent centre for walking and touring Wensleydale and the adjoining dales of Swaledale, Cotterdale, Dentdale, Garsdale, Wharfedale and Chapel-le-Dale. Take a walk around the Hawes Town Trail, Millennium Walk, Pennine Way or along the River Ure, which is nearby. In 1998 Hawes was awarded the English Tourist Board Silver Award for the "Best Day Trip Out". Modern traffic has long replaced coaches and horse drawn wagons along its narrow streets, but market day (Tuesdays) in Hawes is as busy as ever, with a farmers’ auction attracting sheep farmers from all over the north of England. Traditional shops, cafés and inns now cater for a variety of Dales visitors as well as the local community. The award-winning Wensleydale Creamery, made famous by the animated Wallace and Grommit films, is now open to visitors so that they can see the famous cheese being made and sample the end product in a welcoming café. In the old station yard you will find the busy National Park Centre and Dales Countryside Museum. The Museum is home to the magnificent collection of Dales artefacts by the two great Dales historians and writers, Marie Hartley and Joan Ingilby.
