  • "Lovely clean and spacious house."

We loved the garden (lots of birds) and hot tub. Only little niggle was the fish tank could do with a good clean.

Hi Susan, thank you very much for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We will make sure the tank is cleaned. Thank you, Sarah and Steve Property Owner

They loved the hot tub. We did a great Easter egg hunt. This property is surrounded by gorgeous countryside. The house is immaculately clean and lots of space for us all. Highly recommend this property. The owners are lovely people who love to help.

  • "Lovely property and we had a great weekend."

However we couldn’t get full use of the hot-tub as we couldn’t get it to warm up despite having the fire lit for over four hours. It only got luke warm and we couldn’t really sit in it. Our only disappointment from an otherwise excellent weekend!

Hi Paul, We are so sorry to hear you were unable to get the hot tub up to temperature and that you were not able to use the hot tub. It usually only takes about 2- 2.5hrs hours from cold when you keep the fire going. We would have been happy to pop down and help get it going for you. We are glad you enjoyed your weekend, though. Best wishes, Sarah Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Lowergate House, we were also lucky with the weather as we had clear blue skies every day."

Our first time using a wood burner hot tub and we would recommend them, was so much nicer than a traditional hot tub. Locals were so friendly, guiding us to some really beautiful local walks and places to eat, Mill Yard Café is a definite, the Full English was amazing, but you would need to book for lunch as it gets really busy.

  • "Lovely cottage."

Great facilities, with everything you want for a wonderful holiday. Took my disabled Mum who has mobility issues and the downstairs bedroom was perfect for her. Good location for visiting the lakes etc. The village as a pub and a lovely cafe which we went to a few times. Everyone loved the hot tub. I would highly recommend this cottage.

  • "We stayed here as a family of four for four nights."

The cottage is charming and the outside summer house a bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. Moreland is a pretty village. We had lunch at the Mill Cafe which was very good. The nearby pub was just getting up and running - just had drinks outside. Appleby-in-Westmorland is worth a visit with lots of independent shops and galleries. We had a lovely meal in the Hare and Hound pub. Our thanks to Sarah and Steve for their attentiveness- what a lovely couple! Thank you for the fudge! We’re looking forward to staying there again. Soon hopefully!

About the location

APPLEBY-IN-WESTMORLAND

Penrith 14 miles.

The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley and steeped in history, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy the contrasting scenery of these two National Parks, plus numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the fantastic leisure centre in the town. Appleby has a wonderful selection of quality independent shops, cafes and delicatessens selling locally produced food and crafts. The picturesque street of Boroughgate, with some interesting old buildings, is at the heart of the town and links the well-preserved Norman Castle with the fine medieval Church of St. Lawrence. Appleby is a major stop on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain, and still today many of the old steam trains wend their way along this line and over the historic and awe-inspiring Ribblehead viaduct. With the delightful Ullswater and the magnificent Lake District within easy reach, this is an ideal holiday location.
