The property

Little Esthwaite Cottage is an attractive, all-ground-floor cottage, resting on the shores of the majestic Esthwaite Water, in the village of Sawrey.

This romantic retreat boasts a wonderful position within the Lake District National Park and is well suited for a couple looking to escape their daily routine for a couple of days.

The interior enjoys a welcoming charm and all the essentials you and your partner could possibly need during a week-long getaway, with the added benefit of views across the fields to Esthwaite Water.

After an action-packed day, look forward to spending your wind down time within the sitting room, where you will be delighted by the woodburning stove during those chilly winter months.

Settle down for dinner around the dining table and tuck into a delicious home-cooked meal that was prepared within the amply equipped kitchen, boasting an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and washer/dryer.

As the evening draws to a close, retire to the well-presented double bedroom, boasting a bright colour palette and a charming interior design to ensure that you wake up each morning within tranquillity.

If you are visiting during the summer months, spend a moment or two on the patio area, where you can enjoy a refreshing drink whilst soaking up the picturesque surroundings.

Alternatively, wander down to the water’s edge, where you can admire the local wildlife or possibly enjoy fishing for pike and trout.

Also for guests who wish to bring a dog, the garden is enclosed and there are enclosed fields leading down to the lake.

If you can tear yourself away from this wonderful cottage, a short stroll will bring you to the local pub serving food and the National Trust property of Hill Top, the home of Beatrix Potter, where you can spend some time within the garden where Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny were created.

For a more action-packed day, the Grizedale Forest offers beautiful walks and cycle ways and has a tree top adventure course too, or why not take the ferry across Lake Windermere and explore the popular town of Bowness on Windermere with its colourful mix of shops and restaurants?

Little Esthwaite Cottage is a superb base for exploring the Lake District with your loved one.

About the location

SAWREY

Hawkshead 2 miles.

The village of Sawrey is situated two miles from Hawkshead down the eastern side of Esthwaite Water, overlooked by the woods and tarns of Claife Heights. Sawrey consists of two separate hamlets - Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey - both with a cluster of picturesque cottages, tea rooms and pubs. Near Sawrey is famous for Hill Top, the 17th century farmhouse where Beatrix Potter wrote her acclaimed children's stories. Now a museum, owned and run by the National Trust, Hill Top is one of the most visited houses in the Lake District. Far Sawrey is the hamlet furthest away from Hawkshead and the nearest to the ferry point on Windermere. It offers a church and pub/restaurant with a beer garden. There are good walks in the area, including those to Claife Heights and in Grizedale Forest. It's also a great base for enjoying a wide variety of typical Lakeland pursuits - with watersports close at hand on Lake Windermere, fishing on nearby Esthwaite Water and, of course, fell walking.
