  • "Superb cottage near to amenities but quiet with rural views over the garden."

Well appointed with everything you need even down to the mundane things like bin bags , Dishwasher tabs and tin foil. The beds very comfortable especially the super king bed. It was clear that quality fixture and fittings had been used. Its was my second visit to the cottage and I enjoyed it immensely and hope some day in the future to return.

  • "We spent 18 nights in the Old Stables and as a party of 3 adults I would highly recommend this beautiful rural property, set amongst the farming community but close enough to small towns and plenty restaurants."

From the pheasants walking around on the lawn to the Christmas decorations and complimentary bottles of wine inside making us feel welcomed on arrival, the accommodation had everything we needed. Just one small suggestion a coffee machine or a plunger even would have completed the totally well-equipped kitchen.

  • "We booked the Old Stables as we were going to a classic event at Tatton Park and also wished to explore an area we hadn't visited before."

On arrival at the Old Stables we were very impressed. The house and beautiful gardens certainly had the wow factor. All fixtures and fittings are of high quality, bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms were very tastefully decorated, and the extra lounge was a real bonus.. However, the house was quite dusty mainly along the skirting boards, on the stairs, behind the couches and when stripping the beds before our departure, we also noticed at the head end of mattress bases. In addition, there were quite few cobwebs, mainly in the vestibule and outside the front door which looked as if they had been there for sometime. I know it is difficult to clean everything between lets but addressing these issues would certainly enhance the guest experience. On a lighter note, we had a small accident with a teapot and were unable to find a replacement. We reported this to Sykes who swiftly contacted the owner who very kindly offered to renew the teapot at the next changeover at no charge. We would happily return to the Old Stables if the above issues were addressed as we had a lovely time there.

  • "We've visited Old Stables several times and we have never found negative to say about the cottage."

It's situated in the quiet village of Mere Brow and is easy reach of the seaside resorts of Southport and Blackpool. It has a very large back garden, which is perfect for children to play in. It has everything you need for a cottage holiday and is maintained to a high standard. The only small criticism I have, is the bathroom windows are draped with net curtains, which over no privacy to the outside world, especially at night. However, a hand towel easily rectified the problem. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Old Stables for an enjoyable and peaceful holiday. David F, Durham.
