  • "Duneane cottage was perfect for our stay in Lancashire visiting family."

The cottage is super clean, well equipped and cosy. The views from the garden are beautiful with incredible sunsets. There is a lovely gastro pub within walking distance and a nature reserve also. We found the cottage to be so peaceful and hope to go back for future stays. The lovely owners who live next door are welcoming and helpful, you can tell immediately that they want everything to be just right for your stay. We hope to be back.

  • "Total scam."

We booked this property last minute for 2 weeks, but was asked to leave after only a few days. The owner didn't communicate directly with us, but made up lies to the agency. Even worse, the owner kept letting herself into the property without warning, which was a total invasion of privacy and made us feel very uncomfortable. The owners live next door and there's not much privacy in the garden, so you feel like you're being watched. There were also several cars parked outside, so it didn't feel like a private getaway in the countryside. An agent from Sykes Cottages agreed that the owner's behaviour was out of order, yet we have only been issued a 50% refund. Avoid at all costs and find yourself a more private cottage.

  • "A beautiful cottage tastefully furnished."

The owners were helpful with advice on walks and local restaurants. Delightful scenery both near and further afield. Wi fi and a dishwasher would have made things perfect.

  • "Beautiful, cosy, clean and comfortable cottage."

Stunning views. Very friendly neighbours (owners). Well equipped with everything you could want. The fresh eggs from their hens was a kind gesture. The Aga was a treat to use. Nice walks from the cottage. Definitely recommend. This was our first visit but won't be our last. Thanks for making us feel so welcome.

  • "We stayed for a total of 3 weeks, 2 consecutive bookings."

Firstly, there is very limited WiFi and this ran out so we had to use our own data. Secondly, a couple of days after leaving we have received an email listing many faults with the property. All of which we dispute. I’m not going into detail as we are still appealing but I would suggest to stay away from this property unless you wish to be picked up for faults that are to do with ageing or installation of items. Thankfully I took some limited photos that show how we left the property, these have been forwarded to Sykes.

  • "Owner said we caused damage but we never got to see all the photos."

This was totally untrue and we feel they just wanted extra money from us. I challenged all this with Sykes and never got to see the photos. WiFi runs out as it is data not an actual account. I feel it it too easy for owners to say damage was caused without proof.
