    “The best things about this property was garden, views and fireplace.”

    Areas for improvement include the damp in the bathroom upstairs being attended to and proper cleaning of the fridge, as it had a strange odour. Overall a lovely break.

The property

Crosthwaite 1 mile. A superb, riverside, semi-detached cottage in the pretty Lyth Valley, less than a mile from the village of Crosthwaite and five miles from Bowness-on-Windermere.

Located in the Lake District National Park and surrounded by rolling fells, Bumblebee Cottage is an excellent peaceful and cosy base for exploring this magical undiscovered area of the Lake District.

This lovely cottage provides stylish accommodation, perfect for a family wishing to enjoy a quiet break in the refreshing Cumbrian air.

Inside, there is a spacious open plan kitchen/dining area with large patio doors opening out on to an extensive terrace with views down to the river.

In the sitting room there is a feature fireplace with an open fire and scrumptious sofas to relax in.

Perfect for a little peace and quiet is the snug which also has patio doors leading to the terrace and on a warm evening it is a tranquil place to absorb the views across the river and fell.

All of the bedrooms are located on the first floor, with a king-size double bedroom, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom.

There is a family bathroom and a ground floor shower room.

Outside there is a lovely front garden with herbaceous flower beds whilst at the rear is a terraced garden with decking overlooking the River Gilpin.

The charming village of Crosthwaite has an excellent inn to enjoy whilst there are several other attractive inns to enjoy within a couple of miles.

Being located in the National Park there are many walks to enjoy nearby or, for the more experienced, there are the beautiful peaks to explore in the Langdale Valley, little more than 30 mins drive away.

Cyclists will also love the many trails in the Grizedale Forest whilst food lovers will appreciate a visit to the Cartmel Village Shop to sample their sticky toffee puddings.

Younger guests will be enthralled with the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway, the aquarium at Newby Bridge on the southerly tip of Lake Windermere, and Go Ape tree top adventures in Grizedale.

Crosthwaite is a small village set in the picturesque Lyth Valley, famous for its damson trees, and boasts a lovely pub known nationally for its excellent food. The lakeside towns of Windermere and Bowness are nearby, with plenty of activities, interest and entertainment for all ages. Also within easy reach is the popular market town of Kendal, an historic Lakeland town with a fine reputation for shopping. Kendal nestles on the banks of the River Kent. Its old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the attractive main street, and the stone ruins of 12th century Kendal Castle sit perched on a hill with views over the town. Both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall with its superb Topiary Garden, are nearby, as are limestone escarpments for easy walking, offering thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay.
