  • "The communication from the owners, has been and was next to none , the cottage itself is in a beautiful setting nice and quiet and stars bright at night , fantastic to come back to at the end of a busy day to put the fire on and feet up."

Bedroom nice and equipped with everything you could want and equally in bathroom has everything you could want , I am not a small chap and the shower is fantastic. The kitchen has everything you could need and the wifi works well. We have really enjoyed our stay and the hosts are nothing but perfect. Thank you for a very memorable holiday.

Lovely effect and cozy feel from log burner. Nothing to much trouble for owners no restrictions on how much heating or towels toilet and kitchen rolls, one of the best places we have stayed in the last 40 years , parking easy and private plenty of space no worries about car getting damage, the only minor we had was the pillows are fairly hard and we wished we had took ours but that is a personal thing as we like feather pillows but they have to look at the allergy side of things and everything was as clean and neutral as possible. I may have gone on a bit but you don’t always get enough information from the books and can end up spending a week somewhere terrible but at this cottage you’re shower and facilities are first class and cannot praise the cottage and Margaret enough providing a cozy cottage is what you are looking for. Thanks for a nice stay Margaret we hope to come back soon..

The owner Margaret was incredibly welcoming but gave us lots of space. Insisted we called if we needed anything at all but absolutely everything we could have needed was already there in the idyllic little cottage. Gorgeous scenery and such a lovely little place. Incredibly clean and tidy and cosy. The wood burning stove made for perfect snowy evenings! Thank you Margaret, We hope to return!

  • "A wonderful cosy cottage, absolutely every thing you could need was and waiting."

All you need is clothes and food and your set for a smashing time. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners who are only to pleased to help. Example fire alarm was beeping occasionally as soon as we let them know they were there instantly to sort it out. The log burner was ready laid with sticks and firelighter just waiting for us to put a match to it. Sitting on the edge of the Lakes in quiet village it is idyllic and with the Shepherd Inn only a couple of miles away we had some excellent meals out with hosts on a par to those at the cottage. We would highly recommend The Cobbles to anyone wanting to explore Cumbria. Would we go again YES.

  • "This was our second stay at this lovely cottage and we really enjoyed our week there."

The owners are friendly and helpful. Cottage is cosy, well equipped, comfortable and in a great location within easy reach of Penrith and further afield, but a lot quieter and thus more pleasant than the honeypot of the Lake District. You do need a car to get out and about as the nearest shops, pubs etc are in Langwathby, a couple of miles away. Hunsonby the neighbouring village has an outdoor swimming pool within walking distance of the cottage. There are a good number of historic houses and gardens to visit in the area so there is plenty to do and see.

Lovely welcome pack on your first day. Warmest of greetings from Margaret and Ray, so much useful information about the area, hopitality was second to none. Details of booking don't quite capture the close proximity of neighbours however we were left to do our own thing and is no issue when you are in the building. Such a wonderful week spent here, would definitely return to The Cobbles!

  • "We loved the personal attention given by Margaret and Ray as soon as we arrived."

They were very warm and friendly and Margaret gave us a tour around the garden areas, which even in October was very beautiful. She patiently and enthusiastically taught me the names of some of the plants I wasn't very familiar with. Her clear and concise instructions on operating the oven, fire etc in the cottage were beyond our expectations. Information was also supplied for the nearest shops, supermarkets and places of interest. I would sum our stay up as being akin to a 5 star hotel but with a more personal touch. I must add I am a professional Elite cleaner by trade and it's the first time I have EVER come across such a high standard of cleanliness...very well done Margaret & Ray because no-one as ever met my expectations in this field! Ray was also very helpful regarding the easiest routes to take to our various places of interest. If you want a really relaxing and comfortable holiday that has more than the basic amenities definitely book with Sykes. My husband and I highly recommend them. I've also just found out that my best friend of 35 years booked with Sykes for their holiday last year and had the same wonderful experience. I will definitely but looking to book with them again.
