  • "We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Pickle Cottage as we explored the south Lakes as well as parts of North Yorkshire and Lancashire."

Steve and Mike are wonderful hosts who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The property and location are absolutely stunning - peaceful and joyful. The views from the cottage are simply amazing. The facilities in the cottage were all that we needed. A well-equipped kitchen, beautiful living area and a spacious bedroom with the most comfortable king-size bed. If you wish to eat out, we recommend Country Harvest in nearby Ingleton for lunch, treats and gifts! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will recommend Pickle Cottage to our family and friends. We hope to return before too long to make more beautiful memories.

Thank you both so very much for your lovely comments , it is very much appreciated and we very much look forward to seeing you again in the future . Mike & Steve Property Owner

Being on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and close to the Lake District there is plenty to see and do. We enjoyed a peaceful and restful week and were reluctant to return home. Thank you to Steve and Mike who made us very welcome as did “Magic” the entertaining welsh cob.

  • "Pickle Cottage is a very stylish cottage in breathtakingly beautiful surroundings."

The accommodation is most comfortable and well equipped. It is cosy in the living area with DVDs provided by the TV and the kitchen is well resourced. The bedroom is large with a smart en-suite. Having tea making facilities was an added bonus with ample storage for clothes. The owners are very kind people who are on hand should you need assistance. As a solo holiday maker I had a wonderful week’s holiday. I would love to stay again.

We were given a warm welcome and felt at home. The views from the property are beautiful and there are good local walks as well as lots to do a short drive away. The coast, Dales and Lakes are within easy reach. We hope to return.

  • "The location was perfect!"

So quiet and relaxing and excellent for both the Dales and the Lakes. It was like a home from home, very friendly hosts who had thought of everything. Possibly not a good idea for anyone with mobility issues due to spiral staircase.

  • "Peaceful, extremely comfortable holiday cottage."

A place to get away from busy life and chill. You need to be reasonably agile to get up and down the spiral staircase, but quite safe. Beautifully furnished, and scrupulously clean.

The cottage is the perfect place for exploring the Lakes and West Yorkshire and at the end off the day relaxing to the peace and quite of the country side. The only drawback of Pickle Cottage is if you have trouble walking or are on the large side the spiral staircase would be very difficult to ascend. The cottage has good WiFi and every thing one would need for wining and dining and we hope to return in the future.

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".
