“Barn Cottage is set in the lovely little hamlet of Ireby just outside Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales.”

The three bedroom cottage is a home from home with nearby walking including one to the highest point in Lancashire from where you can see Morecambe Bay. Just 3 miles away is the Ingleton Waterfall Trail which features no less than 7 falls on a 4½ mile walk. You need to be pretty fit but I made it up to Thornton Force, the highest of the falls, at 70 y.o. and with a dodgy hip. Within easy driving distance are many of the iconic places in the Dales. The Ribblehead Viaduct is only a 20 minute ...

The Ribblehead Viaduct is only a 20 minute drive, follow that road to Hawes and visit the cheese experience at Wensleydale Creamery (highly recommended) and then on to the spectacular falls at Aysgarth where the fight scene with Little John & Robin Hood was filmed for Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves. These are only a few suggestions as the Dales are stunningly beautiful with amazing sights everywhere you go.

The cottage

Ingleton 3.5 miles.

This terraced stone cottage is set in the hamlet of Ireby, surrounded by magnificent open countryside less than four miles from Ingleton in the pretty Yorkshire Dales, and four and a half miles from Kirkby Lonsdale.

Boasting excellent walks in every direction, this is an ideal country cottage to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the wild and natural countryside on the doorstep.

The cottage has a cosy sitting room with woodburning stove, a great spot for relaxing after a day out walking.

Upstairs you'll find three comfy bedrooms and a family shower room with walk in shower.

Outside, there is a patio, ideal for enjoying a refreshing drink, with the extra benefit of a larger garden area situated approx. 100 yards away, which makes a perfect space to let the children run around and have fun.

Tumbling through the village is a pretty stream, and from the doorstep is a host of paths and bridleways to explore.

Visit nearby Ingleton to explore the famous caves and waterfalls, or head over to the charming market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, with its fabulous restaurants and individual shops.

Whilst staying at this quiet corner of the countryside, why not enjoy a drive over to discover the bustling village of Ambleside in the beautiful Lake District?

Or stay in Yorkshire to explore all the wonderful Dales have to offer.

A very welcoming cottage, perfect for family and friends at any time of year.
