  • "Beautiful accommodation set in the heart of Kendal."

The apartment had everything we needed. Lovely walks in and around Kendal, but so many other attractions nearby that leave you plenty to do if you want to. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to book this gem.

The property

Forrest's Yard 2 is a true marvel of a property, situated in the perfect position for a relaxing break in a traditional Cumbrian market town, on the doorstep of The Lake District National Park.

This large and attractive duplex apartment is named after the twice-elected local mayor George Forrest who lived here back in 1825.

This second and third floor property offers a central spot in Kendal, whilst still maintaining a fabulous degree of privacy, being tucked above the street.

Spread out over two floors, this property is ideal for a group of eight looking to explore the wonders of the Lakes while still being in the centre of this traditional market town.

Once you’ve discovered your new home-from-home, head inside and begin to settle in, making your way to the classically styled living room/diner where elegant leather sofas are arranged around the traditional woodburning stove and the TV, creating a wonderful spot to wind down in after your long journey.

To the back of the room lies a long and grand dining table, where many nights can be spent gathered around relishing the company and conversation with friends and family, talking over memories old and new.

Make use of the quality appliances within the fitted kitchen, which includes an electric double oven, microwave and electric hob, among several other items, providing you with all you need to create some delicious dishes, while the original, stained glass, arched window fills the room with light.

Offering beautiful sleeping spots are the two bedrooms, both holding amazing super-king-size beds, with one able to be made into a twin room thanks to the zip/link bed features.

Enjoy the gleaming bathroom, holding a bath as well as a walk-in shower, so you can freshen up either with a hot shower, or a long soak in the tub.

Move up to the next floor and discover the other two bedrooms, both being arranged as delightful twin rooms, served by a bathroom hosting a roll-top bath.

Step out into Kendal and be within walking distance of the town’s fabulous array of shops, from your usual favourites to boutique shops and local businesses, choosing from one of the charming cafés or pubs to grab some lunch in.

Head into the Lake District to discover magical scenery, endless miles of walking routes and a host of attractions; visit Beatrix Potter World in Bowness-on-Windermere, take a Lakes Cruise form here down to Lakeside where the Lake Aquarium provides a fascinating day of marvelling at marine life.

Practice your swing at Kendal Golf Club, or for more exhilarating sports head to Lake Windermere for a range of schools and clubs offering a host of activities.

Forrest’s Yard 2 is a hidden gem in Kendal, offering a wonderful base near the Lakes.

About the location

Windermere 8 miles.

A historic market town with a fine reputation for shopping, Kendal nestles on the banks of the River Kent and is known as the Southern Gateway to the Lakes. Its old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the attractive main street, and the stone ruins of 12th century Kendal Castle sit perched on a hill with views over the town. Visit The Abbot Hall Art Gallery, its regular collection holding portraits by Kendal born George Romney and works by Turner and Ruskin, with other exhibitions through its links with the Tate. Both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall with its superb Topiary Garden are nearby, as are limestone escarpments for easy walking, offering thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay. Kendal itself is ideally placed for exploring South Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and beyond.
