  • "Excellent first floor apartment in lovely quiet location, with easy access to Grange over Sands and surrounding area."

    On day 2 of a 3 night break, we just had to book to come back in the Summer. The apartment offers quality fixtures/fittings and furnishings throughout and was lovely and warm. A lovely walk from the doorstep to Grange over Sands, with the option to travel back by train to Kents Bank station opposite. Excellent food at the Cavendish Arms in nearby Cartmel. No hesitation in recommending to others.

  • "Comfortable, warmly heated, spacious rooms, well equipped property with a lovely view of the bay."

    In a quiet location but with easy train access across the road and only 40min walk with good views into Grange-Over-Sands. We would use again and recommend. Only disappointment was that the lounge TV signal would not pick up Netflix or Prime which would have been ideal relax the odd time in the dark, cold evenings after long days out.

  • "We loved our stay at this beautiful, well-equipped and spotlessly clean holiday apartment."

    It is the perfect place to relax, unwind and escape the stresses of life. The gardens are very pretty and the lovely little 'Kents Bank' railway station across the road adds the perfect touch. The bus to Kendal also stops outside the apartments. Grange-over-Sands itself is an elegant town overlooking the magnificent sands of Morecambe Bay. With the fascinating village of Cartmel just two miles away and Lake Windermere just 15 miles away, visitors cannot fail to be impressed with this perfect holiday location. We would not hesitate to recommend this delightful holiday apartment. The owners welcome their guests with a bottle of Prosecco and make sure they have every comfort during their stay.   • "Everything about this apartment was perfect except that my wife saw a bug in her bed the morning after she had slept in it."

    We then found that we had both been bitten during the night. We tried to get somebody to come and see the beds and our bites which were now quite inflamed but no one would come. We cut our stay short as we had no where to sleep. When we got home we contacted Sykes it was a Sunday and they promised to ring us back but never did. When I eventually got in touch with with Sykes they were not interested in speaking to us and only wanted the owners version of events. We have lots of photos of our bites and we will be contacting environmental health as this property should not be let until it has been thoroughly fumigated

    Thank you for you comments which we believe are unjustified and inaccurate. You have told us that while out on Saturday, in the middle of the afternoon, you noticed bites. You have stated that you did not return to our property until the late evening. The photographs you have provided appear to be consistent with mosquito bites. We have been advised by experts in the area that the climatic conditions in Grange have been favourable for mosquitoes in recent weeks. We contacted you on Sunday morning but you were unable to take our call. We provided you with a detailed email on Sunday evening and offered to follow-up with further information. On Monday, as a precaution, we spent the entire day at the property undertaking thorough checks, all of which confirmed that our high standards are being maintained at the property. These checks included a visit from a Pest Control expert whose subsequent written report has concluded that there is no evidence of any issues. This information, together with much more, has been provided to Sykes Cottages. We will be delighted to provide any public body with access to the property to check our high standards which are reflected by other guest reviews published here. All reviews in September, including the guests who departed the day you arrived, awarded 8 Kents Bank House with 5 Star ratings. Property Owner

    ... perfect!! The apartment is so comfortable, spotlessly clean, and the location is just right for exploring around and about. Lots of lovely walks, right on the doorstep, small train station and bus stop just across the road. Far enough out of Grange-Over-Sand for the location to be off the tourist grid and nice and quiet, but near enough to walk into the town. Already looking to book Kents Bank again for next year.

  • "8 Kents Bank House is a superb location for meeting up with friends for a long weekend, just a shame we didn't have longer, it was so good, we wouldn't hesitate to book again."

    The apartment is very quiet, well-quipped and nicely furnished with quality fixtures and fittings. It's spotless and well looked after, in fact all was beyond expectation. The railway nearby is a bonus, a short train ride along to Arnside and a walk over Arnside Knott was the highlight of the weekend. Hampsfell is a spectacular walk from the door with many cafes and restaurants on the return route through Grange. All of Grange is within easy walking distance of Kents Bank, taking in the views of Morecambe Bay along the way. The excellent Pheasant Inn at Allithwaite, so good we went twice, is walking distance too, we didn't need to use the cars during our stay. Would love to do it all again.

    The facilities are excellent- fully equipped kitchen, lovely showers and very comfy beds. Comfy and large sofa to watch netflix for a film in the evening when you are recovering from walking all day. Couldn't fault our stay!

  • "The accommodation was lovely everything you need."

    Beds were comfy and the rooms were lovely and bright . Location was lovely and close to amenities. Pub a mile away. Only negative, would of been nice to have a welcome pack on arrival. It mentioned in the welcome email a complimentary bottle of wine for putting the bins out ., but no wine was left. Otherwise highly recommended.

  • "Beautifully presented and located property which was comfortable and well equipped."

    Ample parking and a gorgeous shared garden. Proximity to the railway station provided car free options for getting out and about in the South Lakes area and the 40 minutes walk into grange-over-Sands was very pleasant. Communication from the hosts was first class - if it was possible to award 6 stars, we would!

  • "Lovely quiet apartment in a superb part of Grange- Over- Sands ideal for train station."

    Beautiful home, only down side for us was our dogs needed a garden the one that was advertised we were not able to let our dogs straight into and it became a chore to have to walk our dogs each time they needed to exercise so probably wouldn't return for that reason.

Sorry that the patio and communal gardens are unsuitable for your dogs we take care to include clear photographs of the private patio garden and the large communal gardens so that guests can see the facilities in advance. The listing highlights that we welcome dogs but they are not permitted on the shared lawns - the good news is there is an excellent walk just across the road that is perfect for pets. The property is situated in a Conservation Area which does not permit fencing to be installed. Thankfully guests appreciate both the view and the tranquillity of communal gardens and, as dog owners ourselves, we are confident this is a great holiday home for a well behaved dog. Property Owner

    It is spacious and very comfortable and has all you need for a great stay. It is in a beautiful setting looking across towards Morecambe Bay. Kents Bank station is right opposite the property, and we used the train to travel around as there are lots of lovely places to visit within easy reach. We intend to return next year.

  • "Thought 5 pm arrival and 9am departure a little bit overkill despite the Covid restrictions etc thought 10am and 4 pm would have been more appropriate, or even 3pm."

    Very disappointing on leaving day to have man knocking impatiently on the door at precisely 9am requesting us to move out! Even on saying we need 5/10 minutes he pointed to his watch and said, rather rudely '9am you should be out' We said dishwasher had not yet finished but that was met with 'I'll do it' we then said we need to put keys away but again it was 'I'll do it' His attitude was appalling so it was a tad disappointing to a very good week!

    Thank you for your feedback. We do have to be sure there is plenty of time for a thorough clean between stays which of course can also depend on how the property is left by the previous guests. The gentleman who arrived from the property management company is well known to the owner and is always polite and courteous so we have never experienced any issues such as yours before. He has explained he was just willing to finish things off so that you did not have to but we are sorry if you were offended at all and would certainly not wish to cause any upset.     Everything is spotlessly clean and COVID safe. The property is in lovely gardens with your private seating area with lovely views. The flat is spacious enough for six adults as well as family with children. We have visited several times and is a favourite of ours and hope to return soon.

  • "Both WC’s require attention unless you push the handle right up water continues to run."

    Our enjoyment was marred by the unfounded accusation that we had damaged the property when in fact due to the meticulous cleaning and care instructions given before arrival we were quite nervous in case of accidents. The white coffee table looked as if coffee had been spilt on the leg not cleaned off which made us laugh. We had not visited the are before and were pleasantly surprised also the train was useful.

    Apartment was ideal, spacious and all mod cons. To be honest I couldn't find fault. Owner was very helpful, even phoned to tell us we could gain access earlier than scheduled and was so apologetic about the one small task of putting the bin out at end of drive, which was no hardship. Thoroughly recommend.

  • "Beautiful apartment, really spacious and very comfortable."

    Situated opposite Kent's Bank train station which is handy for travelling up the coast. There is no noise from the train station which was our worry. Stunning views across Morecambe Sands and even when the weather is rubbish it is lovely to watch the changing scenery. The area is very steep in places for walking locally but along the promenade it is a lovely walk and would be ideal for bikes. There are plenty of places to visit close by but returning home at the end of the day is perfect with everything you need for a perfect relaxing holiday.

  • "This was a bit of last minute booking but the booking was efficient and communication was instant."

    The apartment was as described and in a lovely location. I wouldn't hesitate in booking another holiday let with Sykes Cottages. The apartment itself was in a quiet location but in good proximity to plenty of attractions. Kents Bank Station directly opposite so good if you want to travel by train . Everything in the apartment was clean and well equipped. We would use this apartment again .

    The only comment which let it down was the lack of sufficient toilet paper and the lack of any sort of welcome pack which for a place of that price, quality and standard would be a nice gesture and easily resolved. Toilet paper and hand soap should be a must.

  • "Stayed at 8 Kents Bank House for 4 nights with my family and family pet."

    Firstly, the accommodation was not a disappointment, it was well equipped and I could not fault the cleanliness of the property. The location is also a bonus as it looks over Morecombe Bay and is right next to Kents Bank train station that allows you to travel to the centre of Grange Over Sands or Cark. This came in very handy when me and my father-in-law went to watch football at the Keg and Kitchen and struggled to find a taxi after the match. Another bonus is that you are only a short car journey to Lakeside and then the rest of Windermere. If you are booking 8 Kents Bank House, I would highly recommend a trip to The Pheasant Inn Allithwaite Rd, Allithwaite, Grange-over-Sands LA11 7RQ, the food and service was excellent and on our 4 day stay over we went twice. Overall, we had a fantastic stay at 8 Kents Bank House and I would highly recommend this accommodation to any of my friends and family and I am sure we will return in the near future.

    Levens Hall had amazing gardens, a great cafe and superb ale. The Hare and Hound pub in Levens had my daughter claim it was one of the best Pizzas she had eaten. The apartment was beautiful, well equipped and comfortable. We will definitely book again in the future.

    The property does not feel like a 'holiday let'. It feels more like a much-loved home that the owner welcomes visitors to stay in while they are away! We even had a visit from a friendly neighbour; happy to tell us about some good places to go to with our dog. Made for a very special Christmas break.

    Everything has been so well planned with comfortable furniture and beds. We found the apartment spotlessly clean. We took our dog with us and floors are tiled in kitchen and dining area so were suitable as well as stylish. Parking for two cars is great as many places do not have that facility. The apartment has beautiful grounds to use with views over the sea. Grange over sand is a delightful place to stay with easy access to Windermere. Our stay was just perfect.

    Really well equipped. All the attractions were pretty close. Beautiful walks nearby. Amenities like Tesco and co op in 1.2 miles. Really helpful neighbours. Beautiful large grassy marshy area for dog to run about and swim just across the road. We didn’t used the train but it links with all the main stations if someone likes to visit by train .
