The cottage owners were really nice and helpful, and made a special effort so that we had a nice festive holiday. The cottage was beautiful, had stunning views over the bay, and the log-fire and hot-tub really made for a relaxing week. There are some great walks in the area, plus good local villages and pubs to visit. Highly recommended.

  • "This is a lovely little cottage with views of Morecambe bay."

Love sitting on bench in front garden watching the sun rise in the morning. Also watching the birds hopping in and out of the bushes and taking a dip in the bird baths. Nice relaxing place and ideally situated for local walks to the promenade into Grange, Hampsfell and Humphrey Head. The hot tub is great in the evening where you can lay back and watch the stars. We also spotted the space station flying across each night. Can truly recommend staying at Chestnut. It was our second visit and we will be back.

After being in lockdown for 4 months and a couple of cancelled holidays this is the break we were really looking forward to. We were looking for some place quiet, comfy and away from the hustle, chestnut was just that. Also, cleanliness was one of our most important criteria and the cottage was super clean and tidy. Hot tub was of course icing on the cake.

  • "Chestnut Cottage turned out to be the perfect place for us as a couple to spend a quiet, comfortable weekend in an idyllic setting."

Storm Dennis failed to hamper our plans and we were able to make full use of the facilities available to us, particularly the hot tub. Local amenities were only a 20 minute walk away, including the rail station. On one day we took the train along the coastal route north to Carlisle, returning later the same day. We found Chestnut Cottage perfectly placed as a base to take in the whole of the Lake District and we aim to return to the cottage to explore more of the region.

Very quirky cottage and had a great feel to it, had everything we needed but the hot tub was a real bonus...loved it. Very clean and we even had dressing gowns for the hot tub, brilliant. This visit was for my partners birthday and a complete surprise, he was very pleased. I could have stayed for weeks I felt that relaxed. Gemma was great it getting back to us and nothing was too much trouble but there again we didn't need to ask much as it was all sorted. We will be back and Grange Over Sands is a really lovely town with so many nice places to eat in the area we were spoilt for choice. Hazalmere's amazing we loved it and the Royal Oak at Lindale really good and best to book as they get busy.

  • "The cottage was absolutely beautiful."

The hot-tub a fabulous bonus. ...The only small problem we had was with parking. We were asked to park further down the road so as not to upset the neighbours. This meant finding a different spot and juggling about if we’d been out and our previous parking spot taken. The cottage opposite had 4 cars parked outside their house on a very narrow road. We didn’t quite understand why the rules were different for the occupants of the cottage to the residents. We had a fabulous time otherwise and the parking problem didn’t interfere our enjoyment.

Other attractions in the area include Levens Hall, with its Elizabethan Hall and world famous topiary gardens, Holker Hall, Furness Abbey, Sizergh Castle, a National Trust medieval house and gardens, and Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country house.
