It is a fantastic place to stay, the owners can't do enough for you. It was my wife's birthday when we were staying at Greystones and they helped me to ensure that she had a wonderful time...sourcing cake, flowers, and a bottle of Prosecco locally to surprise her on the day. We stayed there with my in-laws who are also of the opinion that the cottage had the "wow factor" and had a wonderful time with us at Greystones. We shall definitely be looking at staying here again.

We were met on arrival by Delia the owner who was very welcoming and gave us plenty of local information. The outside area was gated and secure, which was very useful as we had our puppy with us and Susan the owners daughter lives next door and let us park our car in the yard so that we had more room . There are some nice walks nearby and you are close to the motorway for exploring. We will definitely stay here again when visiting this area. Thank you for your hospitality.

The location was very handy for the southern lakes and Lancaster. The cottage was warm and cosy and fitted our needs. We were travelling as four adults and two children 8 & 6 plus a dog. There was a nice touch in that we arrived to find two pints of milk and orange juice in the fridge. The nearest town was about 5 miles away so we made sure we were stocked up. If we are looking to visit the area again we would look to returning to this cottage.

  • "Gorgeous, cosy holiday cottage."

It was spotlessly clean and beautifully presented. Really good use was made of the space and, although a small cottage, it was perfect for us & we didn’t feel cramped (3 adults & 2 young teenagers). The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment and there was a really thoughtful welcome gift of goodies on arrival (tea, milk, biscuits etc). The location was handy for visiting both the southern Lakes & Yorkshire Dales. Loved our stay, wish it had been longer & I hope we get to return soon!

The owners have thought of every extra you may need from a large selection of board games to varied selection of dvds. The cottage is very well equipped, warm, clean and the outside area secure if you have brought your dog. On arrival we found the owners had left us a free welcome pack of a bottle of wine, chilled juice, a bottle of milk and a box of biscuits. They had even put up a small tree and some Christmas decorations as we were staying over the Christmas period.

  • "The cottage is brilliantly located south of Kendal - rural setting with very easy access to motorway and main roads to other parts of Lake District."

The cottage is part of a barn conversion, which has been done to a very high standard with accommodation over 3 floors. The cottage was very clean and well kitted out for self catering - with the most being made of the relatively small spaces. Plenty of things to do locally - and a great base for walking both in the Lakes and further south in Arnside/Silverside. Would return to both the area and the cottage.

So much to see and do in and around the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. Greystones was a beautiful converted old thrashing barn, located in a lovely quiet lane, with plenty of dog walking areas on your doorstop. My family had a fantastic holiday here.

The cottage is only a few minutes off the M6 and equidistant to Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale. The lovely owners live nearby and are very helpful. Be aware that this is a snug cottage for six and in order to all eat at the table some rearrangement of furniture is needed. For most of our stay there was just four of us so not really a problem!

The location is perfect and the cottage well equipped and spotlessly clean. Delia and her family are on hand if you need them and gave us a very warm welcome on arrival. I thoroughly recommend this cottage for dog walkers - the Kendal to Lancaster canal is literally on your doorstep and the stunning South Lakes moments away by car. Very close to road connections in the region; but still felt rural and quiet. We were made to feel most welcome by our host and found her to be very helpful. Cottage was lovely and very comfortable. Milton was a very picturesque hamlet; although driving down the narrow country lanes was a bit daunting at first, we soon got used to it and sussed out when best to avoid other road users. We were fortunate to enjoy wonderful weather, so made good use of it through day trips and scenic walks and really did not have time to visit any of the big house attractions or museums in the area. Good base for visiting the Southern Lakes and surrounding area.

About the location

Arnside 3 miles; Silverdale 6 miles; Kendal 7 miles.

Milnthorpe, once an important medieval market town, is located in the South Lakes between Kendal and Carnforth, just a few miles from the seaside village of Arnside. Reminders of the town's history can still be found today amongst the narrow lanes and historic buildings, which speak of a time when a coach and four was more common than a four-wheel drive. Set in lovely rolling countryside, the area has much to offer, with the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis offering a tropical hall and butterfly house. Dallam Tower and Levens Hall (historic and beautiful stately homes with their deer parks, topiary and ornamental gardens) provide a great day out for visitors. Leighton Hall, Sizergh Castle, the Great Lakes Aquarium, Windermere and Grizedale Forest are also all within easy reach and well worth a visit. From stunning limestone pavements and wonderful woodland walks to beaches and scenic coastal paths, there really is something for everyone.
