  • "Super property, great location for shops, café’s & restaurants."

Milking parlour for ice cream and Botanica for brunch/lunch were fabulous. River walk loop is great for walking dog, although the lack of even a tiny bit of grass for first thing in the morning and last thing at night was a challenge in the rain and no lazy/relaxing starts to the day! A few walks direct from the village, although the saturated ground made these very muddy. A drying rack to hang washing would be appreciated and an updated waste collection calendar useful. The money towards parking after the parking pass expired was appreciated. Lovely holiday enjoyed by all. Oh, and don’t forget frequent trips to the Brewery which is dog friendly and also does coffee and cake. Market on Thursdays and proper hot chocolate from the chocolate shop.

  • "Lovely, very central mews house, very clean and well equipped!"

! Parking close by and easy access to drop luggage at front door. Bathrooms are gorgeous! Beds very comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Only one niggle .. we booked two weeks before coming and I contacted Sykes in the requested manner to ask that the twin room be made up as a double (as was stated in the description it could be). Sykes said this would be passed on to owner but was made up as a twin. Not the end of the world but just wanted to let you know.

Thankyou for your very positive feedback about Kirkby House. We are delighted you thoroughly enjoyed your stay and really liked the accommodation. However, we are sorry that we never received your request for the bed re-configuration. We would have changed it to suit you and your guests. Absolutely no problem at all. We are just glad it didn’t affect your holiday too much. Apologies again. Property Owner

It has everything you could possibly need and is comfortable, tasteful and spacious. It was perfect for the two of us and our dog. Bathrooms and kitchen are beautifully fitted and towels and bed linens are of a high quality. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and it was warm and cosy. The dog treats, dog bowls, biscuits, tea coffee etc. were much appreciated, as was the car parking permit. We really loved our stay and would definitely like to return.

We are delighted that you had a wonderful stay in Kirkby House and would absolutely love you to return and stay with us again. Thank you for your detailed and positive feedback. It really helps us to know we are on the right track in providing for our guests. Hopefully, we will see you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Kirkby House had everything we needed and was in an excellent location."

The beds were comfortable and the house was warm, even in the middle of storm Debi. We were three couples and there was plenty of room for us all in the property. Although, like a lot of places in Kirkby Lonsdale, it didn’t have a parking space there was a parking pass that could be used at a car park very close by and at other car parks in the surrounding areas. We also parked near the church and a nearby road without any problems. You can also buy a 3 day or 7 day pass for the car parks which were reasonable. Kirkby Lonsdale is a lovely little town with lots of nice places to eat and drink and I would definitely stay at Kirkby House if I came again.

We are absolutely delighted to receive your positive feedback and 100% scores. Thankyou! So pleased that you and your friends enjoyed the house and felt it accommodated all six of you so well. The free car parking pass is something we hope our guests appreciate. And you did! We would love for you and your friends to return in the future to Kirkby Lonsdale and to our holiday home. It would be a pleasure to see you all. Property Owner

  • "Our stay was fantastic, plenty of room for us all (2 adults 3 kids) and plenty of bathrooms to fight over!"

There were only a couple of drawbacks, the 3rd floor en suite flooded within a minute or so after running the shower. The drain must have been blocked up as it didn’t drain down until the following morning! So that bathroom was out of bounds for the week. Also the pull chain on the window blind in the tv sitting area was broken when we arrived- and completely snapped off when we tried to open the blind. Other than that it was faultless and would return again!

Thankyou for your positive feedback and scores. Delighted you had enough space for your family and bathrooms to fight over! We had the shower checked out immediately and all is working well. The chain for the blind in the lounge had come unclipped and it's now all sorted. Hopefully, you will visit Kirkby House again in the future. We would love to see you back! Property Owner

It was well equipped with everything you need. A nice touch was provision of tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits, as well as washing up liquid etc. The property is perfectly situated for the town and Riverside. Only drawback is no outside space/garden. Would happily recommend the property.

Thank you for your very positive feedback about Kirkby House and its location within the lovely town of Kirkby Lonsdale. We have tried to provide some little touches to make our guests welcome and we are so glad that you appreciated them. Hopefully, all the amenities of the town made up for the lack of our own outside space and you enjoyed the eateries, gardens, parks and the beautiful riverside,on the doorstep. Property Owner

Everything we needed was provided with many extras. The location was excellent, off the Main Street & literally a two minute walk from all the shops & everything Kirkby Lonsdale has to offer. We were well catered for with regards to home comforts & easily able to cater for ourselves when needed. A quirky characterful house which we would certainly look to return to the next time we visit Kirkby Lonsdale. With the parking permit provided we couldn’t have asked for anymore in a holiday cottage.

Thank you for such positive feedback and for being model guests. The respect you showed for our home is really appreciated. We have worked hard to make the house a great place to stay. the keylock was on the back door so it took some minutes to realise there was a front door as well. bathrooms and beds were good

Delighted you enjoyed the beds and bathrooms and thank you for your feedback. Sorry you found cobweb on the Velux window and didn’t find the pole in the cupboard for the blind. We have instigated an additional deep clean to the regular programme and have put more information in the handbook as to where to find items. Having no garden was a bit of a downer just because I like to sit out in the morning with a coffee. Generally, a high standard of accommodation, though parking was a bit of a bind. Originally booked for 6 but 2 of our party had to cancel so the size was perfect for 4 adults, could have felt a bit small for 6 adults, fine if half the party is kids. All that said, I would definitely recommend the house.

The kitchen diner was a lovely space to sit and eat together and the boot room was very handy for storing prams, dog baskets, coats etc out of the way! Lots of nice touches like an extra dog bowl and we had everything we needed in terms of kitchenware, towels etc. The only thing we couldn’t find were extra bin bags, which would have been handy to have, and the broadband was turned off when we arrived but we found the router and switched it back on so very easily resolved. After dinner, head upstairs to a relaxing sitting room with plenty of seating for you to stretch out on as you watch a show on the Smart TV.

Move across the first floor to find two of the three fabulous bedrooms which inhabit the mews, the first of which is a king-size with access to a stunning, underfloor heated en-suite bathroom.

Alternatively, you can travel to the outskirts of the Lake District, where the market town of Kendal offers a variety of activities, such as walks along The Helm, with its wide range of plants and Fell ponies, the KendWall Climbing Centre, for those seeking some exhilaration, and a local museum offering fantastic exhibits.

Aside from the adjacent National Parks, which provide a variety of walks and watersports, the Forest of Bowland and the beaches of Arnside & Silverdale, both of which are designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are also conveniently accessible.

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".
