  • "Beautiful cozy tastefully decorated cottage."

It is in a quiet but central location 1 minute from all the wonderful shops, pubs and restaurants but 2 minutes from the fantastic river which is the start of some lovely walks. You can’t park by the cottage but we managed to load and unload the car in front of the cottage then parked in the car park 5 minutes away in town near Booths. We paid for a week’s parking pass. We will definitely be returning.

  • "We loved this quaint little cottage and the kitchen was super well equipped."

Our only complaint was that the water at the shower and bath was tepid at best although it was hot at the sinks. A lovely welcome touch with the Easter eggs and chocolates. Thank you

As soon as you walk through the door you feel at home and so relaxed. The cottages has everything you need and is so comfortable. We would definitely love to say again soon.

  • "Lovely cottage ideally situated."

Very comfortable and well equipped. We would definitely recommend. No parking available but main car park is just a short walk away and a three or seven day pass can be used at most public car parks in the South Lake areas, so good value for money. Lots of pubs and restaurants serving good food in the village.

  • "Stayed here in Feb half term and really enjoyed our stay in such a lovely, clean and cosy cottage."

It was ideally located and parking was also not a problem. Kudos to the owners who ensured the cottage was very well stocked and also left a very nice welcome pack.

  • "Ideally located in centre of town, although no on site parking."

Excellent range of utensils in kitchen. Comfortable beds and good shower. For dog owners, short walk down the lane to a large exercise field next to the river. Small enclosed yard at front of cottage, but could do with a bucket and yard brush being supplied so we could wash it down from time to time. Town is well stocked with restaurants, pubs and takeaways. Must visit Booths and Kirkby Lonsdale brewery tap.

  • "The cottage is in a great location where most things are in walking distance."

If you have a car it can take some time to find a parking nearby on weekends and market days. The facilities looked fabulous, we didn't use the kitchen much as we spent most of our time with family who live locally. Beds and sofa's were all comfortable and the house feels cosy. The stairway up to the bedrooms is narrow, which I know wouldn't suit my father-in-law if he was staying with us. A lovely cottage and we would look to stay there again when visiting.

I’ve stayed in all the hotels and a couple of cottages in Kirkby as been going for years but this place is just brilliant. Lovely clean and well looked after property with everything you need. Can’t wait to come again!

  • "What a fantastic find Lune Cottage turned out to be - beautifully decorated and very well equipped - also appreciated the box of exquisite chocolates as a welcome gift from local shop ‘Chocolat’."

Well situated in the picturesque town of Kirkby Lonsdale with plenty of walks both on the doorstep or a short drive away. Lots of lovely restaurants, takeaways, pubs and cafe’s to try, and a good variety of shops. Can recommend Ingleton Waterfall Trail (15 mins drive), make sure you get there early as parking is limited.

  • "We loved our stay at Lune cottage!"

The location is fantastic with all the local pubs and restaurants less than 5 minutes away, the only down side is the parking but we found less than 10 minutes away there is a place to park free of cost. The cottage is beautifully decorated and needs everything you need for cooking, each one of our group agreed we would love to visit Kirby Lonsdale again and we would without a doubt stay here every time!

  • "This cottage is absolutely delightful."

Perfect location right in the middle of beautiful Kirkby Lonsdale. It was so clean, so comfortable and so attractively furnished. It was very well equipped too. We hardly cooked as we like eating out when on holiday, but had we stayed longer we could have prepared meals easily. We would highly recommend this cottage. Parking is an bit of an issue but we politely asked the neighbour opposite if we could just drop our gear off and he was very accommodating. We met the owner and she was lovely. Very kind and helpful.

  • "Just returned from a fantastic stay at Lune Cottage."

Located in a quiet street, but a short walk to all the shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants the location was perfect. Whist a lack of onsite car parking is not ideal, we had no problem loading/unloading luggage and then purchasing a 7 day permit for use in one of the car parks a 5 minute walk away. The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and I have rarely slept in a comfier bed! Kirkby Lonsdale itself is one of the prettiest villages around and will definitely be back. There are some great walks straight from the village and a 30 minute car journey will take you to the more challenging 3 peaks etc. You are literally spoilt for choice in terms of places to eat & we can highly reccomend Platos, Botanica and The Orange Tree. Plus no walk is complete without a cake from the bakery!

It's a great base for the hills - our trips this time included the Dales, North Pennines and the Coniston round in the Lakes, all easily accessible from KL. And we enjoyed the fact that it was no longer illegal to drink and eat in the town's great pubs . Great cottage, great location.

Regarding unloading - if you’re lucky, there should be space to park your car for 5 minutes on the other side of the road.

We really enjoyed our stay at Lune Cottage. It is in a lovely part of Kirkby Lonsdale which, itself, is a beautiful market town. The cottage had everything we could possibly need, plus good WiFi and a great Smart TV. Many thanks for a super quiet break.

  • "This is a lovely cottage on a quiet back street in Kirby Lonsdale, one min walk to many pubs, restaurants, bakery and gift shops."

In less than 3 min you can be on the river Lune or viewing it from high. We thought not having parking would be an issue but we were able to park outside on the road to unpack and pack without any issues. We parked on the main car park only a few min walk through the shops £4.50 per day. I did find free parking further out the town but double the walk and not guaranteed. We found it ideal to explore both Cumbria and the Dales. I’m a bit of a cook and I must say that the kitchen was very well equipped. In all a great experience.

  • "A great cottage in the beautiful town of Kirkby Lonsdale: handy for the western Yorkshire Dales, Howgills and Lakeland."

Very comfortable, with a well-equipped large kitchen (we cooked every night). In the centre of town, so do note there is no parking on site, but we didn't find that a problem. Close to the church and path to Ruskin's View, so our car-scared collie could have a run without encountering traffic!

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country’.
