  • "Our group loved this property, it was comfortable, well kept, elegant and spacious."

It is a great place for a large group to get together, whilst also having enough space. The grounds were excellent, with beautiful views from the property. I would definitely come again!

  • "Absolutely fabulous property to hire for a large family gathering."

I have recommended it already to many. Having hired the whole property the beauty of it is that there is both a communal area where everyone can gather but also individual rooms with facilities (similar to having your own flat ) where group members could go to have there own privacy and make there own meals etc. The large outside area and extensive grounds meant we were able to have games and get fresh air outside . Enjoyed by all the family would love to return again. The property has so much history but the rooms have all modern amenities .

  • "Property was well liked by our party."

Works well with having self contained apartments but then space to get together on the ground floor. Well equipped Liked the towels/plastic glasses for the hot tub and the heated shed for changing. Looking at booking for next year as it worked so well.

  • "Staffield Hall was first class, wonderful location, facilities and comfort."

Wonderful in the snow!! The 'facilities management' was tested on fri night/sat morning due to the power cut. Although power came back on at 0930 the heating system needed further attention we did what we could to help, and we had it back by mid afternoon. i think that they will now have a procedure for dealing with this- no complaint. Our area of concern is the communications between Sykes and the owners. the terms and conditions were not consistent which led to unnecessary stress for both myself and the owners. please ensure that all three parties have the same information since this is what we pay the booking fee for. hence the 6/10 for the first question. Sykes staff were helpful and cooperative but the ambiguity of the Ts and Cs was not easy for them to deal with - more care needed.

  • "I cannot fault the facilities and ambience of Staffield Hall; my family ranging from 5 - 70 rented the 8 apartments to celebrate milestone birthdays missed during 2020."

Everyone was very pleased with the accommodation and when minor maintenance issues occurred (1 x shower not working / communal dishwasher showing "fault") I communicated with owner Michael Lawson who promptly sent his maintenance man Alistair to assess and address the issues, without intrusion to our party. The Hot Tub was very popular and the communal area ideal for gathering together; having our own apartments meant we could "escape" when needed!! Would highly recommend.

  • "We spent a week here with family members ranging from 3 to 83."

Wonderful set up allowing everyone their own space but with lovely communal areas to allow everyone to get together. Grounds are beautifully kept with amazing views. Property spotless and really comfortable.

  • "We had an amazing weekend staying at Staffield Hall!"

The house was beautiful and spotlessly clean, and the owners really had thought of everything. There were dressing gowns to borrow, and little hot tub bags with towels and plastic cups to use outside! The log fires kept us lovely and cosy in the evenings, and the communal living room and kitchen were more than big enough for the whole group to come together in. The house was also easy to find using the supplied directions, with plenty of parking for all our cars. I'd love to stay here again sometime and would definitely recommend it to others - thanks for a great stay!

Kirkoswald has two excellent pubs, both serving fine quality food, a 12th century church and a shop and Post Office. The River Eden runs nearby and the area is renowned for its superb trout and salmon fishing, along with walking, cycling, canoeing and climbing.
