  • "Lovely property, the views are worth it alone."

Lots of things to do in the area, not too far from the coast. Very friendly & welcoming owners made us feel at home.

  • "Amazing property with stunning views."

Tastefully decorated and well set out. Nice walks both starting from the property and a little further afield. Roger our host was great, pre arrival info was very helpful and directions to the property were excellent. The annex was lovely and very comfortable, little touches like the mini fridge and kettle meant we didn't have to get to the main house for our 1st cuppa of the day :o). Would love to visit in the summer and take advantage of the lovely outside seating area and those wonderful views.

We really appreciate you taking the time and trouble to post this lovely review - many thanks. It was a pleasure to host you all and we note that you may find time to revisit us in warmer weather to enjoy the additional outside dining facilities. Don't forget to book direct with us to ensure you get the best pricing. Property Owner

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Meadow Cottage, previous reviews are accurate, definitely 5 star."

The views say it all, would recommend, access and parking are excellent. Roger gave us a warm welcome and gave us a useful guide around the property on arrival. Extremely generous 'Welcome Pack' which was much appreciated, very homely touches such as fresh flowers and the indispensable binoculars! The cottage in its contemporary style and easy layout had everything you could want. The visitor information folder was an interesting read as to 'places to eat' which were excellent and varied. Longridge has everything you need. If we had chosen a different week we could have visited the local agricultural show which was on the following day. A delightful area, accommodation and owners.

Really glad to hear that you enjoyed Meadow Cottage so much and thank you for taking the trouble to post such a lovely review. It was a pleasure to host you both and we hope that some day you will return to Hill Top Farm Property Owner

We have just returned from a week in the cottage. It lived up to our high expectations and I particularly loved having a full sized fridge/freezer. The setting and location are wonderful and Roger and Lesley couldn't have been kinder. Longridge has great local facilities and offers easy access to the wider area. We ate out daily and The Parker Arms, The Glasshouse and Atkinson in Morecombe Bay were all worth a special mention. We look forward to returning.

  • "We had a great time."

The view from the cottage was simply amazing; certainly, I have seen nothing better in the UK. It was a great location for various walks in the Trough of Bowland and the Booths supermarket in Longridge was only five minutes' away. The fixtures and fittings in the cottage were of an exceptionally high standard and it therefore seems almost churlish to suggest that it would be helpful to have a really big saucepan for cooking pasta and the like. However, that really is being picky! Finally, Roger and Lesley could not have been kinder or more helpful; they were excellent hosts.

Location is great for getting out to the coast or we had some lovely walks from the cottage. We will not hesitate to return. Thank you!

It is perched on the side of a hill with extensive views from the coast to the Forest of Bowland. The owners are very friendly and helpful and supplied a comprehensive welcome pack. Shops, pubs and, most importantly, a great fish and chip shop are within walking distance. The Little Town farm shop, only 5 minutes drive away, provides lots of great quality local produce. • "The owners of this property are to be congratulated on the superb job they have done in building and finishing this cottage to such a high standard."

The location is one of the best we have been to in the UK with superb panoramic views of the surrounding hills and dales. The accommodation was well laid out, the beds were exceptionally comfortable and the high-end kitchen well equipped with no lack of equipment, utensils or crockery. In general it was a warm and welcoming holiday location with very high quality accommodation. Definitely the type of holiday cottage you would want to return to (and mean it!). If we were asked about any improvements that could be made we'd be hard pushed to find any but being very pedantic, possibly the sofas and chairs, which were a bit uncomfortable, could be replaced although it is quite understandable that they would see hard wear. In summary, we had a wonderful holiday at this cottage and without doubt will go back to it. It's just a nice place to be!

Having the second bedroom adjoining but not connected to the main house was a little unusual but 'going home to bed' was a bit of a novelty. This was the most secure holiday cottage we have ever stayed in, with its electronic gates and long drive. Mention has to made of the view and the spectacular sunsets which we were able to view from comfortable verandah. We did miscalculate the distance to the lakes but instead took advantage of the surrounding area, particularely the Forest of Bowland with its winding narrow lanes. I tried to find one word to sum up this holiday let but the nearest I could come up with was 'Wow'. Thank you Roger and Lesley.

About the location

LONGRIDGE

Ribchester 3.5 miles; Preston 8 miles

Longridge is a small town and civil parish in the borough of Ribble Valley in Lancashire. Situated 8 miles north-east of the city of Preston, at the western end of Longridge Fell, above the River Ribble. Longridge initially developed outwards from an area around St. Lawrence's Church, at the boundary of the townships of Dilworth and Alston and to the south of the modern-day town centre. Many of the buildings are built of locally quarried sandstone and despite modern developments; the town centre remains largely as it was when it was first established. The town holds a portfolio of gift shops, cafes, antiques and art studios together with a quaint cinema, plus numerous food outlets from takeaways to gastro pubs. Its nearest neighbours are Grimsargh and the Roman town of Ribchester, with its Roman museum and beautiful church of St Mary’s on the banks of the river Ribble. Clitheroe castle is only 20 minutes down the road. Here there is another wealth of interest, from the historic Browsholme Country Estate, host to regular Farmers Markets. To the southeast Longridge Field Day is a long-standing annual event that consists of a parade through the town, and various attractions on the town's recreational playing field. The Forest of Bowland (AONB) shows off an expanse of fells criss-crossed with dry stone walls and dotted with picturesque farms and villages. The hen harrier is the bird symbolised on the Forest of Bowland’s logo as it is their most important breeding ground in England. Beyond the Harrier there is a wealth of other wildlife to be spotted from Kingfishers to the Red Grouse. The rivers Ribble, Calder and Hodder converge near the prestigious Catholic Stonyhurst College, providing idyllic landscapes and walks, not least of which – The Tolkien Trail – lead to an abundance of pubs to quench the thirst afterwards. The area sports numerous agricultural shows, art exhibitions and day festivals of all sorts throughout the summer and is within reach of the Lancaster canal and city, Blackpool and the Lake District, so there is plenty to keep everyone occupied.
