  • "The property was lovely; there was a few maintenance issues but didn’t effect our stay."

The instructions on the TV/DVD player were unclear but we managed with just normal TV. The upstairs guests were noisy on the first night but they had checked out by our 2nd night. Perfect location for exploring the Lake District

  • "Cottage was great."

Sykes were poor. Booking stated no dogs when first booked. I was emailed arrival details a few days before the booking and it said dogs welcome. I paid £75 to put our dog into kennels…. Sykes cancelled my booking then reinstated it.

Hi, I'm so sorry Sykes caused this confusion. In fact your original booking was correct - we don't accept dogs in the property. I do hope you were able to enjoy your stay despite this. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage."

Nice kitchen. Adequate cooking utensils and cutlery. Enjoyed hot tub in the cold night. Could have done with providing more toilet rolls and bin bags

  • "A lovely stay, wasn't cleaned when we arrived, BUT after a phone call to Richard we had a cleaner come within a couple of hours, (and we were compensated!"

) I would describe this more as a ground floor apartment rather than a cottage as the people staying above us (which we hadn't realised could happen) were quite noisy! Also there are lots of cobwebs with little spiders, maybe a quick hoover of these would help! Loved the cosy fire and the hot tub!

  • "We loved this cottage."

It had everything we needed. The garden is just beautiful, with incredible views and lovely different areas to explore and relax in. We are just sad that it is now no longer dog friendly. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Love this little place, this is our second weekend break her the hot tub is great after a long walk The other problem was it was a bit cold I think the heating was on a timer and it took 3 days to get warm

  • "Loved out stay at fir tree lodge !"

The only thing I would say is that because of the time of year we went it was freezing in the cottage when we got there and the heaters in the hallway and double bedroom did not get very warm. We had to move the fire from the kitchen into the bedroom to keep warm. But other than that we had a lovely stay and loved the cottage, hot tub was amazing.

  • "Beautifully presented lodge."

Stunning views and very cosy. Check in time ideally should be earlier as it was difficult to see the signage in the dark (4pm). The main kitchen tap was very wobbly, and clearly needs some maintenance work. A deep clean would also be a good idea, even though I appreciate the age of the property and general wear and tear. Having said that the lodge is really beautiful and so lovely that the owners accept dogs too. Thank you!

Thank you for your kind & useful feedback. We weren't aware of the problem with the tap and have now been able to fix it. We are planning various improvements including lighting the driveway whilst the property is closed over winter along with the normal deep clean/carpet cleaning etc. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property."

Clean. Beds were comfy also which is always good. Perfect location, just set in the sticks but only 20 mins from Windermere and other villages with a couple of local pubs 5/10 mins away. Hot tub was amazing and the views were great! Even had deer venture in the garden one morning which was nice to see. Would definitely recommend! Luke

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We're so glad you had a good holiday. Property Owner

  • "Had a great stay at this property."

Inside was lovely and spacious with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The grounds outside are stunning. A huge back garden for our 4 legged family member to run around and a fantastic jacuzzi to relax in. We were a bit worried at first as this property didn't list a private jacuzzi but the owner did reassure us that it is only for use for the Fir tree lodge guests. It was situated perfectly for us. A short walk down to the nearest pub but be advised they only take card for payment. Also, everything we wanted to see/do was not far in the car. We would definately stay here again. Beautiful place

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We're so glad you had a great holiday and hope it won't be too long before you can come back again. Property Owner

  • "This was a beautiful and exceptionally located property."

Loved the gorgeous garden, on the lake front at the Ulverston end of Lake Windermere. The house itself it charming and has all the mod-cons one might want. The only point of improvement is housekeeping - there was barely any soap in the bathroom; only 1 toilet roll, which ran out before our stay ended; the windows could do with a clean up and had cobwebs outside. Overall, definitely a great place to stay in !

  • "Was lovely place , only down side is apartment above , we stayed all week , we had some one stay saturday till Tuesday did not no they were above us ."

Then Wednesday we had six young lot above us, staying out in hot tub till one in morning , running up and down shouting , so wont be going back , its a shame lovely place

We are so sorry your holiday was spoilt be anti-social behaviour - particularly as the hot tub is for the sole use of guests in Fir Tree and the guests above should not have been using it at all. Had we been aware of it at the time we would definitely have contacted them. Property Owner

As a family with two young children I am more that disappointed that you booked 8 girls upstairs that stayed up partying until 4am totally ruined the trip and left early

We are so sorry you had this horrible experience. In actual fact the property was booked to 6 adults. Additional guests, and the anti-social behaviour were in contravention of the terms of the booking and completely without our knowledge. It would have been very helpful if you had contacted us or Sykes at the time rather than after your departure as we would have addressed these issues immediately. Property Owner
