"Fantastic stay in this beautiful home, spacious, homely - we really had the best time!"
Wonderful views of the Lake District and so close to Windermere Town. Would highly recommend.
"Nice quiet place, the hot tub probably had abit too much chlorine in it, as the smell was really strong."
Would stay again.
"An excellent holiday overall with the cottage being well situated for plenty of activities without travelling too far in the car."
The cottage itself was largely satisfactory, being well equipped and comfortable. However the cleanliness and maintenance remains an issue, notably the wet room toilet leaking, a large damp patch and mould on the wall in the entrance hall, dirty/sticky kitchen floor. So sad - just a little TLC needed!
"We had a great time and the cottage was excellent for us , our son and daughter in law and three small grand children."
. Location excellent for child entertainment without going too far in the car. Only very minor niggles of no real importance.. An all round winner and would reccommend.
"The property listed is not a 4 star and needs to be downgraded."
It does have a jacuzzi but the surrounding area is dirty. There are only basic chairs to sit on. No table for drinks etc. The cleanliness and maintenance of the property is appalling. Which is a shame as the location is great. This has been highlighted in other reviews and needs to be addressed. As the price we paid for 4 nights was way over the top. There are much better properties in the surrounding area for the price we paid so was extremely disappointed.
"The cottage was in a beautiful quiet location, very close to many attractions."
It had everything you could need for a stress free break. The owner was extremely friendly and informative. I’d definitely recommend this property!
"The cottage itself it’s absolutely gorgeous as well as surroundings , we had everything we needed and had a really great weekend!"
"An amazing cottage that suited the 21st celebrations."
Loved the hot tub, spent many hours in it and the surrounding area was amazing with plenty to do. Will definitely be returning to this lovely cottage.
"Love place to stay ❤"
"Lovely rural location close to main road but a million miles away from any worldly contact which was ace for our big group as we wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle."
The gentleman who owned the cottage let us use the Sky Box Office to watch the boxing which was fantastic of him. Hot tub was brilliant. All round beautiful house, will definitely be returning a few times over the year to celebrate with my friends, this has already been discussed among us. Only thing I'd expect next time would be tea, coffee, cooking oil and salt and pepper as there was none which isn't a massive issue as ship is just down the road but normally you'd expect that. Thanks Ian, top man.
"Ian provided an excellent stay for us, an amazing cottage and hot tub."
Excellent facilities and a great host.
"Had an absolutely fab time."
The place was exactly as pictured, and was so cosy and clean! The owner Ian was so helpful too. I plan to go back next year and I would defo recommend.
"Overall the cottage was perfectly adequate but it lacked the more homely touches and definitely needed a “deep clean” and some TLC in terms of maintainence /decoration."
The boiler could not cope with all 10 of us taking a shower and the hot water ran out. The central heating was temperamental too. Hot tub was warm and the children loved the freedom to roam the grounds. Pass to local spa was a nice touch.
"Great location, with a very easy walk to several attractions, yet surrounded by woodland and birdsong and beautifully quiet."
A spacious house with good bathrooms, and good WiFi, that suited our family group well. Meet and greet went smoothly. Outside we loved the hot tub, but the surrounding patio area was scruffy with an unusable BBQ and nowhere pleasant to sit. There was ample parking but the garden generally was somewhat neglected. A bit of time spent upgrading some kitchen utensils and mending several broken chairs would be well spent. Our biggest problem was the heating, which we were told was impossible to regulate downstairs and made the house uncomfortably hot throughout. With a bit of input spent sorting these issues out, this would be a great house to which we might otherwise have returned.
"For over £2000 for the week, the cottage falls below expected standards for cleanliness and facilities!"
There is no canopy over the hot- tub as shown in your photograph, and the 'patio' seating area is very neglected, with the BBQ extremely rusty, ash-filled and unfit for purpose. Internally the microwave had not been cleaned, and some of the pans were in an unpleasant state. There were cobwebs and dead flies in window sills, and 2 of the green tub chairs were damaged, as was one of the kitchen chairs, and the large table wobbled! You wouldn't want to drop something and have cause to look under the beds! The heating was problematic, as some radiators could not be turned on, and others off! The second double bedroom is less spacious than shown, as bunk beds have been added. Excellent was the hot tub and water pressure. The living areas are spacious and the location is very good. Ian was very pleasant on the phone and on arrival.
Many thanks for your feedback, we take on board constructive criticism very seriously and will look to address to issues which you have highlighted - If you would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact us Property Owner
"Gorgeous cottage close to The Swan and Lakeside Hotel."
Lovely walk just outside of the cottage. Perfect for families or a group of friends going away.
"It's a fantastic cottage, everything that it said on the website, we met Ian for the key handover and he was able to give us lots of advice on where to go for food and drink and activities during the days we were there."
We had a fantastic few days and I will recommend it to all our friends. Many thanks
"Cottage and setting was beautiful."
"All went smoothly and had a great time."
The property was comfortable. However, some money needs to be spent on the property: loose floor tile (broken board?) in kitchen by fridge where there must have been a leak at sometime; a new lock is required on the front door (only lockable from one side) and perhaps some aspects of general decoration could be spruced up. We would still be happy to return to the same property at sometime, because overall we had a great time and the property was well located.
"We had a fantastic girls weekend."
The house and location was fantastic.
"Had an amazing weekend at this lodge with friends."
The property and facilities exceeded expectation. Will definitely return.
"We enjoyed a lovely 4 day break at the cottage owner was extremely helpful on meet and greet and the cottage and facilities were second to none."
We will definitely going back. Richie and family
"The house and facilities were absolutely fabulous, surrounded by breathtaking scenery and we couldn't have asked for a nicer, more attentive host."
Extremely well kept and well laid out house, more than equipped for cooking large group meals, lovely beds/bedding, plenty of room to park the cars. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a good base to explore the lakes.
Perfect for our needs. Would definitely go back!Sykes were extremely helpful with any queries.

Whether you decide to discover the area in the car, by foot, bike, boat or steam, there’s plenty to see nearby to keep the whole family content. The ferry dock offers the chance to travel by boat to Waterhead or Bowness, or take a shorter trip to the National Trust’s Fell Foot Park, across the water, which offers pretty grounds set alongside the very tip of the lake, providing plenty of places for picnics, paddling, games and gentle strolls on sunny afternoons. Situated alongside the Lakeside Station is the long-standing Lakeside and Haverwaithe Railway, home to Britain’s oldest standard gauge steam engine, on which you can travel back in time along this well-loved Heritage line, and where little ones will delight in meeting Thomas and his friends. Visit the Lakes Aquarium to uncover the often-secretive world of life below water, where you’ll chance upon hundreds of captivating creatures that feature in the surrounding rivers, lakes and sea. There are wonderful, well-signed walks to be enjoyed in the immediate area, including the 5-mile route to Finsthwaite’s High Dam, which trails from Lakeside through pleasant woodlands and meadows.
