  • "I booked this property with 8 other friends and had a very poor experience - I highly recommend you do not book this property."

I will bulletpoint my issues below: - Hot tub not ready on arrival, dirty, had a very strong bad smell. When we finally managed to get it to work, it caused all members of our group to have severe skin reactions. No help provided when owner messaged - Advertised as 5 TVs but only 4 available, all locked with a pin and no pin provided even after asking owner - Rude neighbours who harass you daily if you park (even momentarily) on the street. Not enough space to park more than 2 cars within the property gates which is ridiculous for a house of this size - Basic necessities not provided such as soap, shower gel, dishwasher tablets, toilet paper (provided but only 2 rolls) - Heating locked remotely, meaning the house is always cold an everyone needed to wear jumpers - And some other small issues such as: half of the stove being broken; toilet windows locked; shed locked so no cushions for outdoor seating even though advertised Finally, the owner is not contactable with all these issues despite trying to reach out multiple times. Do not rent this property, spend a little more on any other place for a much better experience.

We did not receive a text or call and in fact when you left, your wife sent a text saying "fantastic stay and thank you" . There are two sheds; one at the back door open with the tumble dryer and mop buckets etc and cushions . There is a PIN for the TVs in the manual. As it is a self-catering property, guests are expected to bring their own toiletries and consumables. There is parking for three cars outside my house and four on the drive. All five rings work on the induction hob but the instructions must be followed. The hot tub was refilled and serviced by me the day before you arrived. The windows do open with the key provided. Please feel free to provide proof of the issues you raised or your attempts to contact us as none have been received. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely time my son was getting married in nearby lakeside hotel so ideally placed for this however would not want to walk out far from this property as lack of pavements makes walking very dangerous- busy road fast cars!"

The house was clean and tidy on arrival and plenty of room for all of us. There are some jobs that need doing around the house that others have already commented on- Cleaning outside cushions on furniture and a general clean up of outside furniture. Tap in on suite has no hot water- asked whilst we were there and just told that the owners know. However the kitchen tap broke whilst we were there and was fixed the same day- thankyou Also lack of a large saucepan as house sleeps 9 and should be able to cook for 9 without using 3 pans! Also when we have stayed in other places with a hot tub someone has come daily to check the water - as far as I’m aware we did not see anyone during our week.

hi there is a new walk right at the back of the property that has been puti n that goes for 10 miles at a cost of 800 k and the wood walk to high dam oposite. the porperties few bits where done over winter and there was two pan drawers with 8 pans in that you missed. there is also a hot tap in the bathroom now . the hot t is done every other day n morning . • "There is a fairly small fridge and freezer."

In the instructions it seemed that there was a freezer/refrigerator and besides that another refrigerator and a separate large freezer. The bathrooms are keyless. This is very disturbing! Other than that, we had a great time. A wonderful place with a beautiful view

  • "The main bedroom with two beds in stunk very strongly of smoke ."

This was very off putting especially as our child was in the room. The bathroom handle next to the large bedroom fell off. The hot tub roof cover was very stained and off putting when used and only half of the jets worked. The outdoor seat covers were well worn. The bbq and utensils were dirty so we had to deep clean before use. The cushions on the beds in the front double were uncomfortable. The house/ position / garden and layout of the house was good, however for the money spent we would expect the little things to be good.

  • "The property was lovely."

The only negative feedback was the amount of rubbish at the side of the building. All bins were full when we arrived. A large bin was delivered on Friday morning but none were emptied when we were there. There was a note left saying put bins out on selected day but no days were attached to the note. The bathroom doors were both warped and had to be slammed to ensure they shut, not great in the mornings when others were asleep. The sink in the en suite only has a cold feed, so you had to wash in cold water. Overall the property was great but for the price paid these snags should be picked up. The grass could do with a cut as well

Many thanks for your comments. In terms of your comments about the bins and collection issues, the black bin should have gone out on Friday which was full from your week in the property. The larger blue bin delivered should have been more than adaquate. There is a note on the side in clear view with a rota for the bin the collection days which is operated by the local council. I have the grass cut every week during the peak periods on a Saturday. I am sorry to learn that you had an issue with the hot water tap in the en-suite bathroom, I was not made aware of this at the time but it is currently being looked at by a plumber to ensure it is not an issue further. Had you made me aware at the time, I would have been more than happy to sort this straight away for you. For assurances, the bathroom door does not need to be slammed in order to have it closed. I am sorry if the stay did not quite match your expectations on this occasion and thank you again for your feedback. Best wishes, The owner of Little Beck. Property Owner

  • "Good holiday and nice property but a few niggles."

I reported that there was no window key we to open the windows this was not solved so we had a week without being able to open any windows , especially needed in the bathrooms. The bathroom doors did not fit and there was no hot water in the shower room . Not enough comfy chairs for us all to sit down together Lesley Wylde

  • "The holiday cottage was spacious, clean and comfortable."

Sarah met us at the door in the pouring rain and talked us through the gate clicker and keys. Sarah was also on hand via text with ideas for days out and places to eat. She was lovely and a real asset to the property, nothing was too much trouble and she always answered texts. The house could use a couple more large saucepans and some casserole pots, but that aside it is a beautiful house. The steam train runs across the bottom of the garden several times a day and we will really miss this now we are home. The garden had everything from barbecue to trampoline and the seating outside was lovely. The hot tub was enjoyed by all. We visited the South Lakes Zoo and the Lakeside motor museum, which were brilliant. We also had a fantastic meal at the Farmhouse restaurant in Ulverston, highly recommend this restaurant, meals were amazing! Overall a beautiful house in a beautiful setting with lovely woodland walks nearby. Grizedale had particularly wonderful walks. We also went on the boat tour of Windermere and got off at Ambleside, which was lovely. The lake and steam train is only 5 minutes walk away.

  • "Little Beck is an absolute find, the pictures do not do it justice!"

The beds are so comfortable, the kitchen is well kitted out. The garden is absolutely stunning, with the steam train running along the end of the garden. Only a 3 minute walk to Lakeside where you can get a boat along along Windermere. Sarah our contact was fantastic and nothing was too much for her, giving us top tips for local attractions etc… (Oh and the hot tub, the icing on the cake!) Thank you, we had a very special holiday!

Lakeside is a lovely little village resting right on Lake Windermere, with the popular Lakes Aquarium, a pier offering boat rides and cruises around the Lake, and a train station which is famous for the Furness Railway, one of Britain's oldest steam railways, running to and from Haverthwaite.

Just a short walk or drive over the River Leven is the village of Newby Bridge, where there is a petrol station offering any essentials you may need during your trip, and a hotel serving food and drink, for when you fancy an evening out of the kitchen.

Also a short drive away is the Lakeland Motor Museum, and in the opposite direction the Grizdale Forest offers an action packed Go Ape experience with a treetop challenge, zip lines, Segway scooters and high ropes courses.

On the other side of the gorgeous lake, you can explore the beautiful towns of Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere, which both offer a number of shops, bars and restaurants, and with plenty to do and see from watersports, boat hire and golf, to museums such as The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Jetty Museum with stories of boats and steam, they make for a great day out.

A little further afield is Ambleside, an amazing town and a popular starting point for many of the mountain and woodland routes around the Lake District.

Also within driving distance is the South Lakes Safari Zoo and Lakeland Wildlife Oasis, which both make a great trip for children.

About the location

LAKESIDE

Newby Bridge 1.2 miles; Bowness-on-Windermere 8.7 miles.

Set on the southern shores of Lake Windermere, the small, sleepy hamlet of Lakeside offers a peaceful getaway location, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the Lake District’s popular attractions, but still within easy reach of them. Whether you decide to discover the area in the car, by foot, bike, boat or steam, there’s plenty to see nearby to keep the whole family content. The ferry dock offers the chance to travel by boat to Waterhead or Bowness, or take a shorter trip to the National Trust’s Fell Foot Park, across the water, which offers pretty grounds set alongside the very tip of the lake, providing plenty of places for picnics, paddling, games and gentle strolls on sunny afternoons. Situated alongside the Lakeside Station is the long-standing Lakeside and Haverwaithe Railway, home to Britain’s oldest standard gauge steam engine, on which you can travel back in time along this well-loved Heritage line, and where little ones will delight in meeting Thomas and his friends. Visit the Lakes Aquarium to uncover the often-secretive world of life below water, where you’ll chance upon hundreds of captivating creatures that feature in the surrounding rivers, lakes and sea. There are wonderful, well-signed walks to be enjoyed in the immediate area, including the 5-mile route to Finsthwaite’s High Dam, which trails from Lakeside through pleasant woodlands and meadows.
