  • "On arrival I did struggle to find the cottage as we arrived in the dark but luckily some friendly locals helped."

It did say space for 2 cars but not sure where you would have parked the other car but they have a small driveway for one car which was great. The front garden is big and enclosed for any dogs to roam. The cottage is lovely, it was immaculately clean and refurbished to a high standard throughout. The living room/ dining room is average size but very nice with a log burner, underfloor heating and a smart tv. The Wifi was excellent which was useful as I had poor mobile signal. The Kitchen was average size with high end appliances except for the kettle which probably needs replacing. They left a bottle of wine for our arrival which was a kind gesture so thank you. However no essentials like milk, tea or coffee etc so make sure to take your own. The downstairs bathroom was handy with a shower and toilet. The main upstairs bedroom had an ensuite bathroom with a hot and powerful shower and a TV also which was great. All the bedrooms were a decent size and really nicely decorated. Especially the kids bedroom which has been very thoughtfully decorated with bunk beds and lovely decor. We had a really lovely stay here. There is a co op a short walk from the cottage, a local pub and a railway station but thats about it however it is a lovely village with walks nearby. We drove out to many lovely places. I really would recommend this cottage. It was lovely and quiet as its link detached so no noise from neighbours. It is on a road but it's not very busy and I hardly noticed any road noise. Thank you so much to Judith and Zeke for a lovely stay. Me, my mum and the dog had a great time. And thank you to the cleaners for ensuring it was very clean throughout the whole property. This a lovely place to stay for a holiday in the Lakes and would definitely recommend to anybody looking for a relaxing break.

The village was lovely - had a pub, and well stocked coop and we also got on the train which was a nice day out! We’ve already booked to go back!

Thank you I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. The weather was not too kind, so it especially important the cottage is warm and comfortable. Thank you for choosing to stay again. Judith Property Owner

I think that people should be informed that both pubs in village are now closed, There is no place to eat in village the nearest hotel/pub is 1,4miles away in Kirkoswold,

Both pubs in Kirkoswald are superb and worth a beautiful 15 minute walk, or five minute drive. We usually tell people on the phone, and if we did not we apologise. Judith The pub in the village is no reopened and serving a limited Menu on four nights. Judith Property Owner

We had a lovely time relaxing in the garden and exploring the area - Lazonby is delightful and we used it as a base to explore the Eden Valley ( very quiet and pretty) as well as being handy for the Northern Lakes. We would thoroughly recommend Rose cottage and look forward to coming back one day . Richard, Helen and Norman the dog

  • "We had another very enjoyable stay at Rose Cottage, our second time here."

As the seasons were changing, we were particularly grateful this time for the underfloor heating! We have always found this one of the best-equipped cottages where we stay, and another big plus is the village's well-stocked Co-op store. Very comfortable and convenient for exploring lots of places in the Lake District, we nevertheless fell foul of there being no train services from the nearby Settle and Carlisle railway station throughout our visit - due to circumstances totally beyond anyone's control! All being well, we will certainly be back at Rose Cottage before too long. As far as the railway is concerned, we have unfinished business

The kitchen was so well equipped, the shower was powerful and loads of hot water. The double bed was super comfortable. The cottage was lovely and clean and so warm and cozy. And the bottle of wine left for us was a lovely surprise. A great location for walking Blencathra and easy to get to Siddaw. All in all we had a great time and would love to come back another time.

  • "Lovely, cosy cottage and very warm."

Comfortable beds too. Great location to explore the surrounding area. Only a tiny negative in that the front garden isn't really enclosed so couldn't let our dog out without a lead, especially as the road can get quite busy.

We are awaiting a gate to go on the path towards the steps......two years and counting, but we are chasing it up, but we want one to match the fence. We have now put a dog gate on, that seems to be working well. Property Owner

Plenty of information provided about the area with recommendations for places to eat locally and further afield. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rose Cottage, happy to return home to in the evening after long days out, especially with some of the seasonal weather we endured. • "We were purposely looking for somewhere just outside the Lake District National Park as we know that offers far better value, is less congested, and yet is just as beautiful, and within easy reach of the parts of the park we wanted to visit."

Rose Cottage fitted the bill perfectly, and we somehow knew that once we established that the owner runs her own B&B business elsewhere in the Lakes, every detail would be taken care of by someone whose own livelihood revolves around welcoming visitors. Lazonby itself and the surrounding villages are lovely and mostly peaceful, yet the road access to most busier parts of the Lake District is excellent. While the cottage is less than 10 minutes' walk from the railway station, lying on the famous Settle & Carlisle railway line, you do really need a car to make the most of your stay. We arrived as two family groups, and were able to park both our vehicles reasonably easily. We had an eventful time getting to grips with the cottage's hob and oven, but overall all of the appliances are excellent - probably more than most people will need on holiday. Another good touch was the plentiful supply of crockery and cutlery, as we find many holiday cottage owners only leave a bare minimum. The village's Co-op store is large and generally well-stocked, but you're only 20 minutes' drive from the town of Penrith where there are two large supermarkets, so keeping supplied isn't a problem. One minor quibble would be about the bedding supplied - this was probably fine for visitors at cooler times of the year, but in the main bedroom at least, is somewhat over-generous for the summer, and we were rather warm on most nights. A lighter-weight duvet as an alternative to the one supplied would be just the job!

It had everything we needed and more. The beds were so comfortable and the heating, including under floor, was sufficient that we did not need to use the log burner. There is a lovely garden with patio furniture that you can enjoy in good weather. There are games and dvd's provided which is a good thing as, Lazonby is an ideal location to reach the lake district, Carlisle, Penrith etc, but it does not have a lot of amenities. There is an excellent supermarket but unfortunately the pub was only open 3 nights and only did meals on 2 of those. Although there are excellent pub/restaurants within a short driving distance. I would definitely recommend this cottage

Conveniently situated for grocery shopping and easy to find following clear and explicit directions. Penrith is only a short drive away to find any luxuries that cannot be obtained at the Coop in Lazonby and there are a number of very good F&B establishments close by serving good wholesome food. Not forgetting a fish and chip van that visits once a week. Very clean and comfortable.

With log burning stove that was great one we got the knack of lighting it. Very comfortable with excellent facilities. Situated in a small village, but with good size Co-op to buy messages. Also has a train station that can be used to for days out if no one wants to drive. Has nice garden with table and chairs that can be used in the good weather. If taking a pet don’t let it out in garden to run around alone as they can escape through small gap in fence at the side of garden and down the stairs (this was the only negative thing about the whole cottage) Would recommend staying there as we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The décor was excellent, it was extremely comfortable and the log burner was fantastic. The cottage was clean, tidy, well located and had lots of useful amenities. The only issue we had was around heating and hot water, as there was no heating on arrival other than the log burner. This was "fixed" on the Monday, but broke again on the Tuesday, after which we had no heating or hot water. This was a real shame as the cottage was excellent!! Fortunately the wood burner kept us warm, and the lack of hot water was more of an issue than the lack of heating. I would highly recommend this cottage when the boiler is fixed!!
