“We had a wonderful stay over the festive period at tranquility lodge.”

From the moment we opened the lodge door we were amazed by our gorgeous new surroundings-it is truly stunning. From the moment we opened the lodge door we were amazed by our gorgeous new surroundings-it is truly stunning. The views from the many lounge windows are beautiful too and you almost feel like you’re the only people around for miles due to the vast expanse of hills and valleys. I have come home more relaxed than I have felt in many years which I credit to the fantastic Lake District and the very homely tranquility lodge. The owners went to extra effort to put up a Christmas tree and decorations for us and even left a gorgeous welcome box with mince pies, wine and chocolates plus treats for our dog. I can not recommend this place enough-we will certainly be back.

About the location

TROUTBECK

Windermere 3 miles; Ambleside 4 miles.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.
