The property

This magnificent detached country house, built in 1862 is set in a most enviable position amongst beautiful woodlands on High Lindeth Fell just a mile from Bowness-on-Windermere.

The country house has been refurbished to a very high standard and is set in its own grounds with beautiful southerly and westerly views of the Lakeland fells.

The grounds afford all visitors peace and relaxation, with mature trees, firs, bracken and the surrounding fells all on display.

With contemporary installations throughout and a wonderful blend of the original features, such as the beautiful main staircase, the mullioned windows and the old pantry, this arresting abode is sure to impress, providing something for everyone to enjoy.

The main leisure suite offers a great place to relax and unwind with a lovely seating area boasting pleasant views and a fabulous sauna to soak away the aches and pains, whilst outside guests will find a gorgeous patio with luxurious hot tub and outdoor seating area, perfect for a warm summers evening.

Back indoors, the spacious dining room overlooks a flat lawned area with captivating views out across the grounds and rolling hills to the south, with direct links through to the magnificent kitchen with a fabulous central island, a range of sleek appliances and fittings and a pleasing snug area to relax and enjoy a cold drink from the wine cooler.

Snuggle up to friends and family in the restful sitting area and keep warm from the heat of the electric fire, or venture across to the separate TV lounge that provides a great place for the children and smaller groups to break out and enjoy a moment of peace and quiet.

Just down the hallway, there are two spacious ground floor bedrooms, both with en-suite facilities and one room designed specifically for wheelchair access, making it the perfect choice for anyone with limited mobility.

Three additional bedrooms can be found resting on the first floor, each adorned with chic interiors and cheerful colour pallets.

The bedrooms are made up of a super-king-size and a king-size, both with en-suite showers, and a quaint twin room that's perfect for tucking in the children.

Less than a mile away is the wonderful and charming Windermere Golf Club, a most welcoming club, whilst a short walk will arrive you at the the lake ferry where a short 'cruise' gives access to the far shores of Hawkshead, famous Coniston with the magnificent peaks of Wetherlam and the Old Man of Coniston to name but a few, as well as the magical Tarn Hows area.

All the facilities of Bowness-on-Windermere are a short drive or a good walk from the Oaks, including a wide range of attractions for all ages, ranging from Peter Rabbit to hand-made chocolate shop and the wonderful walks along the Bowness promenade where the many cruise ships run down the lake to Ambleside and Newby Bridge.

Discover picturesque local walks along footpaths bordering the site, including the Dales Way which runs by the Golf Club and Crook and Staveley and for the more adventurous walks across to Cartmel Fell.

There is a leisurely family walk directly from the site to the nearby Brant Fell, which provides stunning views over Lake Windermere and its surrounding fells, including the Langdales and Crinkle Crags, which offers harder challenges to the more adventurous walkers.

Windermere Train Station 1.5 miles: Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 7 miles.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Old Laundry theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is less than two miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There are also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake.
