  • "This was our second visit to this lodge and it was just as enjoyable as our first, the site is fantastic and you couldn’t be in a better setting."

The lodge itself is a home from home and has everything you could need. It will hopefully not be our last visit. I could not recommend this property highly enough. Great family holiday.

Thank you for your lovely feedback we really appreciate it So pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back in the future Kind regards Peter & Janis (owners) Property Owner

  • "Lodge lovely and clean and quiet."

Very well presented. Only issue with site was that the pool was empty when the new one isn't ready yet! Kids disappointed. Overall though great relaxing place to stay and use as a base.

Thank you for your feedback The new pool is all up and running now so if you do return in the future you will be able to try it out Kind regards Peter and Janis (owners) Property Owner

  • "Arrived in pouring rain to find key wouldn’t work."

The paperwork was wrong, contact phone number out of date. 86 year old guest had a panic attack as a result. Not a good start to our expected relaxing break. All disorganised and we will definitely not be using Sykes again not at all helpful and very expensive.

We are really sorry to read this and disappointed you didn’t enjoy your stay I hope it won’t deter you from returning Kind regards Peter & Janis owners Property Owner

  • "The lodge was modern, clean and well equipped with everything we needed."

There was tea/coffee/sugar but take some milk. Hand soap, washing up liquid, cleaning products and toilet rolls to start you off but remember to take kitchen roll. We enjoyed the extra space compared with staying in a static caravan. The decking and ouside furniture was much appreciated, the side of the lodge is a suntrap in the afternoon. The main site area was quite busy where the bar/restaurant/play area were due to the bank holiday weekend but the lodge itself is in a lovely quiet spot. Its an easy drive to the main tourist areas of Keswick, Ullswater etc but there are lovely walks from the site, we enjoyed a walk up the river to Appleby where there are pleanty of independant shops and cafes, also a Spar and Co-op. If you have children then Lowther Castle just outside Penrith is a great day out with a huge outdoor adventure playground. One tip would be to study the site plan on arrival up the drive so you know where to find the lodge as Sykes instructions only take you as far as the main enterance. We drove round a couple of times before we found it! The key safe is at the front double doors but the key is for the side door so you need to open the side gate/fence and go round. We had a great week and would recommend the lodge and area.

Thankyou for your great feedback. Glad you enjoyed it. It makes it all worthwhile.. also you gave some great information regarding places to visit Thank you The owners Property Owner

  • "Love this lodge."

We have been 3 times and thoroughly enjoyed it. Comfortable and spotlessly clean. However , this time we do have a couple of irks. The entry time of 5pm and departure time of 9am is ridiculous. Also, this time around there was no tea bags, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tabs and a nearly empty washing up liquid bottle. A small supply of these items are usually available should you forget to bring something. But, as we forgot to bring tea bags and as there is no shop on site we had to drive into Appleby. Cutting corners for such small items is unbelievable. Paying £615 for a three night stay, you would at least expect a tea bag! It has made up rethink about coming again.

Sorry to read this the times of entry and departure are not down to us and I totally agree with what your saying I’ll see what I can do about that. Tea & coffee we take with us We do keep washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets in stock and usually the cleaners check this and put some out We appreciate your feedback and taken on board what you have said And we sincerely hope this hasn’t put you off coming back The new complex is now complete and they have a shop on site Regards the owners Property Owner

Beautiful! Area was lovely with loads to visit and explore. Would definitely book this accommodation again. Only downside was there was no shop on site due to building work going on and the bar only served food from 5pm.

Thank you for your lovely comment The building work is coming on now and it's going to be fantastic when complete so hopefully next time you stay it will be From the owners Property Owner

Caravan was excellent and very clean.Surroundings were excellent.Site facilities poor as 7.5 million building works in place and when visiting site bar for a drink nobody at home(several times). When works are finished they will be excellent.Only one item in caravan which would benefit future holiday makers is replacement of rust pitted chrome bin in main bathroom ( trivial I know

Thank you for your feedback we took on board what you said about the bin and if you do return which we hope you will the bin has been replaced From the owners Property Owner

The park was quiet and peaceful. We also felt very safe and our children could run about without being in any immediate danger. The view was great although there is a railway line close by, which I can’t remember reading about, it didn’t impact on our stay.

This should be made clear at the point of booking not at the point of arrival. We realise that smoking is rated at the same level as a plague, but there are still some of us left!!

About the location

APPLEBY-IN-WESTMORLAND

Penrith 14 miles.

The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley and steeped in history, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy the contrasting scenery of these two National Parks, plus numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the fantastic leisure centre in the town. Appleby has a wonderful selection of quality independent shops, cafes and delicatessens selling locally produced food and crafts. The picturesque street of Boroughgate, with some interesting old buildings, is at the heart of the town and links the well-preserved Norman Castle with the fine medieval Church of St. Lawrence. Appleby is a major stop on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain, and still today many of the old steam trains wend their way along this line and over the historic and awe-inspiring Ribblehead viaduct. With the delightful Ullswater and the magnificent Lake District within easy reach, this is an ideal holiday location.
