Excellently equipped and very comfortable. Parking presents no problems, the provision of the parking permit most advantageous too. Stunning views and many beautiful walks locally. Definitely another stay at Corner Cottage for us next year! Steve Reviewed by SueNov 2023 "The location is great, being so near the shops but very quiet." Parking a short walk away might not be ideal for some, but didn't bother us. The cottage is beautiful: tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Amazing bathroom! I agree with earlier comments about the outside space not being quite as expected, but we didn't need it in October so it wasn't a problem! The only very slight downsides for us were the TV being so hard to work and the volume far too low, and the carbon monoxide detector squeaking loudly each evening with no obvious way to replace the battery. If we owned it we might try to fit a downstairs loo in the understairs cupboard (we did this in our last house), with a replacement store cupboard next to the fridge. A blackout blind in the bedroom would really be great, as there are several very bright lights on all night close outside. All in all, a great place to stay. Thank you for your useful comments. The carbon monoxide detector issue has been rectified & shouldn’t now be a problem for future guests. We were delighted to hear that over all, your stay at Corner Cottage was great! Property Owner Reviewed by HelenOct 2023 "Very comfortable and well equipped cottage." Excellent location for easy access to town and eateries. Would like to give a shout out for excellent service from the property manager at Winder Services. Very helpful and prompt service from them. Water is extremely hot at the cottage so beware. It doesn't seem possible to turn it down at all. All in all a perfect base for exploring the Howgills and Yorkshire Dales area. Delighted to read your excellent comments, thank you very much. Also pleased to hear you received good & prompt treatment from Winder Services & your comment about the hot water, which is now being looked in to. Very pleased you had a good week at Corner Cottage, & enjoyed Sedbergh & the beautiful surrounding area. It is in a fantastic position to visit both the Dales and the Lakes and had all the facilities we needed for our two week stay. (We noted that prevoius comments had been taken onboard by the owners and rectified). We had lovely meals at the Red Lion and Dalesman pubs. A reasonable size Spar supermarket is found as you come into Sedbergh together with local shops and market days mean you have everything local. Having booked the holiday before we changed our car to an EV we were concerned about parking a short way from the property but discovered fast EV changing points within a six mile radius of the property (eg.M6 services, Dent Village, Kendal, Kirkby Lonsdale, Hawes). We had no problems charging whilst exploring the towns and countryside as several car parks had EV points. We would certainly recommend Corner Cottage and will return when we visit the area again. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay at Corner Cottage & thank you for your positve comments regarding Sedbergh & surrounding area. Very pleased also to hear, that you will return for future visits. One minor adjustment however to locating Corner Cottage, the information advises turning into Davis Yard near 'The Three Hares' however, this business is no longer trading. TV remote was a little confusing too, but didn't spoil our restful week in the cottage. Will definitely be booking again! Thank you very much for your lovely comments about Corner Cottage and we were very pleased to hear how much you enjoyed your stay. I must aopolgise for the oversight regarding locating the cottage via the "The Three Hares" cafe which closed down a few months ago. I have spoken to Sykes & they have amended the location information for future reference. Your comments are very much appreciated & we look forward to welcoming you to Sedbergh again. Found problems with TV Free Sat remote in living room. Would work intermittently leaving us unable to either turn it on or change channels. One item which we felt was missing in kitchen was a colander. Had a very good week there, loved the location. Thank you very much for your comments. It is always helpful to receive them. Regarding the heating: the note in the Guest Information Guide explains how the timer in the airing cupboard can be advanced as required. The FreeStat / Internet arrangement. W are sorry that the service you received was intermittent. We have just checked the facility & the remote, which now has new batteries, and both now appear to be working satisfactorily. We have now provided a colander in the kitchen & thank you for drawing this to our attention. Hoping you will return to Sedbergh & Corner Cottage again. Property Owner Reviewed by KathrynNov 2022 "Cottage was very well equipped, cosy & warm in a brilliant location with facilities in near walking distance." As I have balance issues which vary day to day this was good for me so my husband could go off walking on his own. 2 minor points which would be ok for most people, no handrail on the stairs so it was hands & knees and the wet room shower was too powerful for it's own good and crept round the end of the screen soaking the room & heading for the carpet outside the door. Had to use towels to stop that happening but screen perhaps could do with an extra angled bit on it! Thank you very much for your feedback. We will certainly look into the handrail situation. We are new owners & are unaware that it has been a problem. As for the shower, we will follow that up, though to date, that problem hasn't been drawn to our attention by previous occupants. We appreciate your comments nevertheless & are very pleased to hear your lovely comments about Corner Cottage. Property Owner Reviewed by JanetNov 2022 "Very comfortable stay." View on map About the location SEDBERGH Kendal 12 miles Hawes 15 miles The attractive old market town of Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), with its old-world atmosphere, is not only set in the magnificent western dales of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is also close to the rugged eastern fells of the Lake District. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has been a thriving community for hundreds of years, with a market dating from the 13th Century. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry-stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners, and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
