We were made to feel very, very welcome by Sue and Ken..our stay was very relaxing and peaceful. I would have happily stayed in the cottage every day instead of venturing out as it was so nice. We loved the cake and cookies and the flowers were a beautiful touch, Thankyou. We enjoyed seeing Ella the horse with her beautiful foal George, along with the dogs with their puppies and the duck with her babies too. Thankyou,

Sue, the owner was very helpful and welcoming. The views from the cottage were lovely. We walked every day and the weather was great for the time of year. We tried to catch Sue before we left but no reply when we knocked, although we knew that a clutch of duckling had arrived, a Black lab was about to welp and a horse was in foal, she must have been busy. The owners, Sue and Ken, are very nearby and make you feel at home during your stay. The view makes this place special too, looking over sloping fields with cattle, ducks, geese and the owners' horses and dogs. Whatever time of year you choose to go, enjoy it. We'll certainly go back even though it was a long drive from London - it is a different world.

The view from the mini patio out onto the fields with ducks, geese, mandarin ducks, black swans, the 3 gun dogs and a constant chorus of curlew made this absolutely what I wanted. The highlight for me was going up onto moorland (8 mins away) to sit and watch/photo a barn owl hunting.

  • "Although the cottage is situated among a small cluster of cottages some distance from any real village it did not feel remote."

It was quite spacious and had a superb view through patio doors. In the ground below there were a pair of horses and 4 lovely dogs, and a never-ending display of bird life. We found plenty to do in the area, visiting the Pennine mountains, the lovely Forest of Bowland and by train to the north Morecambe Bay. It is close enough to Settle to take the famous train from Settle to Carlisle and at Silverdale, just beyond Carnforth, there is the RSPB Leighton Moss Reserve. We were blessed with superb weather which just added to a very enjoyable holiday. We ourselves are no longer able to do much walking but it would be an excellent base for walkers. There were no shops nearby and the closest pub was one and half miles away in Low Bentham. There was a welcome tray with half a dozen new-laid eggs to greet us. It proved an excellent holiday. Thank you.
