  • "A first class cottage."

Tricky to get up path from road if you are less able. But it's perfect. Bed comfortable, shower lovely. Kitchen well equipped. We arrived later than expected due to a breakdown. So we're exhausted, welcomed by lights and heating on. Had Christmas Day in lovely surroundings and very relaxing. Cobble Cottage is probably one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Small yard in back. We had 5 of the stormiest days at Cobble. So snug.

Thankyou Christine , I’m glad you had a lovely stay and that Christmas at Cobble Cottage was an enjoyable one ,It’s lovely to hear when my guests have had a fantastic stay and hopefully we will welcome you again in the future,Thankyou again Property Owner

to minimise the need to bend to floor to access them. Provision of summer quilts - my wife is a cold soul but even she was too hot. Nothing else.

Thankyou Stephen,I’m glad you had a lovely stay ,I always have 4.5 tog summer quilts in the warmer months and 10.5tog in the colder months,I am looking into the shower shelf so thankyou for the suggestion , Property Owner

Cannot be changed due to the property but slightly too small for us unfortunately. However, the property is Lovely and very well equipped, the location is spot on with walks from the door and the pub The Sundial is so close and very welcoming. We walked every day on the river path to High Bentham which has lots of amenities. Would prefer more outdoor space but nothing the owner can offer unfortunately. Despite this a very well presented cottage and very comfortable.

Thankyou Dorothy for your feedback ,I’m glad you had a lovely stay and I appreciate you giving the cottage full marks for your stay even if some things were not what you expected Property Owner

Upon entering, the cottage, it was very pleasant, homely, and welcoming., all as described. A lovely place for us to access the areas we wanted to visit and walk, Malham Cove and Ingleton falls. The rooms of the cottage were all comfortable and and pretty. It was very warm with the windows only being able to open a little way, so it can get hot! The hob in the kitchen took ages to heat anything, which was a downside! Contact with the owner and the small treats for us and our furry family a pleasant bonus! Thankyou! Yes we would visit again as a lovely time was had by all.

Thankyou Heather I’m glad your stay was a happy one ,The upstairs windows are on restrictors for safety purposes but can be released if necessary, I’m sorry if the hob caused you issues during your stay it is going to be replaced in the near future ,Many thanks again for your kind words Property Owner

There is a nice river walk to take the dog which is not far from the cottage. Thank you Sarah :-)

  • "While the cottage was warm and had some lovely internal features these did not compensate for the lack of space."

The cottage is extremely small. The single bedroom has no facility to hang clothes and the wardrobe in the double room was part of the chest of draws. To cook and eat in the kitchen was a logistical exercise. For dog owners - the area isn’t very dog friendly. Decent walks a a car ride away.

I am sorry Eric if you felt the cottage was too small but we feel the pictures depict the true size of the cottage and have had many positive comments of the character of the cottage and how cosy it is ,There is a chest of drawers in the small bedroom and the pictures clearly show that there is no wardrobe or hanging space which if that wasn’t what you required it was still booked for your holiday, In the main bedroom there is a combi wardrobe with shelves and drawers,I don’t quite understand your issue with the kitchen as there is plenty of worktop space and a table that opens up to give you more space when eating ,Cobble Cottage is in a lovely friendly village and is very dog friendly with lovely walks directly from the door and a riverside walk close by there is also a dog friendly pub at the bottom of the road,I spoke to you a couple of days into your stay and asked if everything was ok for you and nothing was mentioned if you were not happy . • "Where do I begin?"

We had a relatively short and pleasant journey to Cobble Cottage from the Wirral. From walking through the front door until the moment we sadly left we enjoyed an absolutely memorable stay. Cobble is beautifully appointed, comfortable and cozy. I had an absolute labour of love with the log burner. Gas combination boiler was also a real plus providing a heating alternative and instant hot water. All of the appliances were modern, reliable and user friendly. Rooms beautifully furnished and beds were so comfortable. Slept like logs. Adored the stable door in the kitchen. To say the Welcome basket was generous and contents of high quality is an understatement. Fabulous property. Also, great pub with lovely hosts The Sundial Inn is a few minutes walk away. Also special thanks to Sykes staff for reinstating the original booking due to an error with my bank. Professionally handled with courtesy and understanding. No surprise there then! Outstanding trip once again! THANKYOU xx

Thank you for our stay we wouldnt hesitate to return .

I am sorry that there were issues with the housekeeping during your stay, I have had no negative comments regarding the cleanliness of the property before. She also left a few welcome "goodies" in the cottage for our stay (thank you for these!). The cottage is set back from the road and there are some cobbles - which can get slippery in the wet - up a short slope to the row of cottages. No problem for us, but may be a consideration for some visitors. Parking is on the road up from the cottage - again, this may be a consideration for some visitors. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Just a few minor points would make a difference. There were enough plates, bowls, glasses etc to throw a party yet only 2 mugs! which is what you would use most, just a bit of a pain having to wash them after every drink. Also some hooks on the small bedroom and bathroom doors would be handy for hanging clothes. The biscuits and milk left for us was much appreciated. There was a small yard at the rear which was a suntrap. Unfortunately it was impossible to enjoy the tranquility of the place because of the building work going on next door and also there was a building site just up the road which was very noisy. I think we should have been made aware of this beforehand as it spoilt our stay. Apart from this the cottage /village was lovely, just don't go on holiday to be disturbed by building noise

Thank you very much for your feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at Cobble Cottage, I apologise for the lack of mugs as breakages do occur but this issue has been rectified, I have spoken to the owners of the adjoining cottage and they have assured me that they were only doing work there for 1 day that particular week, the renovations to their cottage are coming to a close now with only decorating and garden work to be completed. There is a small redevelopment of the former village primary school which is not directly adjacent to the property but higher up in the village behind another row of cottages, the village is quiet so sound will carry and I'm sorry if this spoilt your stay.
