Brockholes Farm Cottages

Tebay 2 miles. Situated on a rural lane along the banks of the River Lune, which cascades down the valley, and surrounded by the stunning Howgill Fells, are these five Cumbrian holiday cottages, two miles from Tebay and conveniently close to the M6. Set on a family-run livestock farm, these Tebay cottages sit amongst spectacular surroundings, whether you stay close to home and observe the daily activities of the farm, with its resident hens and sheep, or explore this beautiful valley, with its dramatic, ever-changing scenery. Each of these Cumbrian cottages have been lovingly created from old farm buildings and are furnished and decorated to an excellent standard, retaining character and charm. Both come with private outdoor seating areas, along with shared use of a children’s play area, plus the opportunity for walks across the farmland and even fishing on the river. These exceptional cottages are surrounded by an area rich in wildlife and natural beauty, and located close to the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District National Parks, they’re superbly placed for exploring the rolling Dales and the quaint Yorkshire villages of Hawes and Dent, whilst the beautiful Ullswater, the second longest lake in the Lake District, can be found within 40 minutes’ drive. Nestling on the shores of Ullswater are the pretty villages of Pooley Bridge and Glenridding, surrounded by a skyline dominated by Helvellyn, England's third highest mountain. The Ullswater Steamer also cruises down the lake, stopping off at popular points along the way, so if you fancy a more gentle day, then pack a picnic and watch as the inspiring landscape passes you by. Booked together or separately, this group of cottages near Tebay are ideal for your next Cumbrian cottage getaway.

About the location

TEBAY

Kendal 13 miles; Penrith 17 miles; Windermere 19 miles.

The charming old village of Tebay sits near the eastern fringe of the Lake District National Park. The village itself winds its way along the edge of the main thoroughfare and the traditionally whitewashed Cross Keys Inn has been there for 500 years or more. The inn is reputedly haunted by the ghost of the Tebay Witch, Mary Baynes. Along with its better-known neighbours of Kendal, Sedbergh and Appleby-in-Westmorland, the area is surrounded by lovely rolling countryside and beautiful scenery. Nearby Orton has a local pub serving good food, a Post Office/shop, tea rooms and the famous handmade chocolate shop. A lovely village green surrounded by 17th and 18th century cottages adds to its charm and there is a farmers' market in the village square on the second Saturday of every month. Take a short drive and discover the unspoilt lake of Haweswater, or take advantage of the excellent road links to the Lake District, the Eden Valley and the Yorkshire Dales.
