  • "We enjoyed a lovely fortnight at Glebe Cottage."

The setting in the middle of nowhere with just the owner's cottage, the old parsonage and the church for neighbours, was just what we needed. We were very lucky to have good weather and had barbecues in the evenings. At dusk the bats flew around and the rabbits came into the garden along with the hedgehogs when it was dark. The cottage is so unique, partly built in 1731 with very thick walls. The church was built in the 12th century with very interesting gravestones. Unfortunately I had fractured my ankle a short while before so long walks were out of the question so my dog and I just managed walking round the churchyard. The owner, Rebecca, was always helpful when needed and nothing was too much trouble. All in all a brilliant holiday.

If there was one thing I would change it would be to change the bed in the second bedroom to two single beds to accommodate extra people who aren't in a relationship. This may not be possible because of the size of the room!!

The cottage itself is furnished to a high standard and provides you with everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Even though the cottage is tucked away in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, there is so much to explore nearby.

Apart from one rainy day, we were blessed with amazing spring weather which meant we could explore all the amazing countryside! Highlights for us were the Malham cove, Ingleton falls and Ribblehead Viaduct. The cottage was the perfect escape for us after a hectic few weeks at work and just what we needed. We cannot recommend this cottage enough for its location to the Dales and home from home feel.

The location is so peaceful, but with plenty of dog friendly walks, not just nearby but also a little further afield around the Thruscross and Swinsty reservoirs and Skipton Castle Woods. The cottage has everything you need, not just for people but for the 4-legged visitors as well. The views are amazing and it was lovely to curl up in front of the wood burner after our Autumn walks. We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay, enjoying the quiet remoteness and lovely scenery. There's a fairly easy walk to the Tempest Arms and a slightly longer and more challenging one to The Bull. The garden is secure and ideal for the dogs doing their morning and evening sniff around. The external lighting, security lights, are excellent. The road leading to the cottage is narrow, winding, up and down, little traffic, but with a few passing places. Coming from Herefordshire, we are quite used to such roads. Drive slowly, look well ahead and be prepared to reverse to a passing place when confronted with an oncoming tractor!

The cottage was even more than we imagined, beautifully presented, comfortable beds, a very snug living room and all the amenities and facilities a small family could want including our pet dog Welly. Beautiful Yorkshire countryside literally on our doorstep with 2 lovely pubs and the town of Skipton a very short hop away by car (The Bull Pub you can easily walk to on a dry day). Rebecca lives in the neighbouring property so was a friendly face to greet us on our arrival against the backdrop of Storms Eunice & Franklin and was only a text message away if we needed anything and also a wealth of knowledge about the local area. She was so kind to gift us with a bottle of fizz and a Kinder egg for our little girl when Storm Franklin knocked out the downstairs electricity. I can't recommened this property enough, we will definitely be returning one day. Thank you so much Rebecca. Damon, Holly, Maggie, Welly and Bump.

Internally, the property has been renovated into a wonderful base for friends and families seeking a rural escape with your partner and furry companions.

Entering the property, you will come to an entrance hall, with places to hang you coats, drop off your muddy boots and bags, before heading into this beautiful dwelling.

Step into the sitting room, with its corner sofa to curl up with your loved ones, whilst the warming woodburning stove provides that extra bit of warmth during the chillier evenings where you can enjoy the Smart TV.

Walk through to the open-plan kitchen/diner, fitted to a high-standard and housing all the appliances you could need to rustle up delicious meals for the whole family, whilst the dining area has seating for four, where the party can gather for a hearty breakfast to plan the day's events.

From the kitchen is a family bathroom with a bath and shower over, so you can decide how best to prepare for your day.

Follow the steps up to the first-floor and discover two well-presented bedrooms, comprising of a double and a small double as well as a separate WC with basin.

Both rooms have been individually styled with a light decor, contemporary furnishings for storage purposes, and matching bedside tables with lamps for some late night reading.

Step out to the large garden where you can enjoy a refreshing beverage and a spot of alfresco dining.

There are many walks and cycle routes from the door with the nearest public footpath about 5 seconds from the door.

Resting close to Skipton, this thriving market town offers a range of tourist attractions.

For a spot of history, the 12th century medieval Skipton Castle is well-worth a visit, as is The Craven Museum, showcasing glimpses into Skipton's rich history.

Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain's "best place to live" and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel.
