  • "An absolutely first class holiday cottage in a stunningly beautiful location I cannot recommend Cowslip Cottage enough, the quality of the barn conversion together with the high spec fit out is just excellent."

You would be hard pressed to have anything short of a very memorable vacation here.

  • "Once again we really appreciated the space, facilities, cleanliness, lack of clutter, and location of Cowslip Cottage."

Very disappointed to hear that Cowslip is soon to be combined with the other cottages at Coppa Hill Barn to form a single 8-bedroom holiday let, which means we will have to look for alternative accommodation for future visits to the area.

  • "We had the most relaxing and peaceful of stays at Cowslip Cottage in an area we know very well."

The cottage is absolutely perfect for 4 adults, as well as a family. It’s spacious indoors and out. We loved being cosy with the Woodburner glowing and seeing the lights of Ingleton twinkling in the distance. If like us you are “proper self-caterers” the kitchen is magnificent including sharp knives and a knife sharpener (it’s a bug bear of mine). It’s the first self catering cottage to provide both! My only disappointment is I didn’t get a chance to try the vacuum/hoover system as we didn’t make it dirty enough to warrant it! But I googled how it worked. Fascinating! We sincerely hope to have another staycation here, especially in winter. A big thank you to the owners for sharing their corner of Yorkshire and making such a beautiful “home”.

Emily the owner met us on arrival. Lots of goodies left including bread, cheese, eggs, oat biscuits & milk. We were so lucky with the weather as it was sunny everyday. Fantastic open views & lovely sunsets. We walked Ingleborough & Ingleton Waterfalls from the door. The cottage is very well appointed & there was everything that we needed. I loved the Bath House products especially & the wood burner. We had a great stay. Thank you

  • "My husband and I both agree that this is one of the nicest holiday cottages we've ever stayed in."

It was perfect for us and our two little girls and so we'll equipped! I could have reduced my packing by a couple of big shopping bags.... Tea, coffee, all cleaning products were there, plenty of kitchen roll and toilet roll (not just the usual 'one' to get you by), clingfilm, foil, freezer/food bags, washing up liquid, hand soap (for all sinks /bathroom's) dishwasher tablets, shower gel, bubble bath ... there was even a stair gate and childrens cups, plates, bowls and cutlery! Also a lovely welcome pack with cheese, milk, bread, marmalade. Oh and the hoover system haha I've never seen one like that before! Almost made hoovering a pleasure! (almost) Our 3 year old was so happy when she walked into the lounge and there was a beautifully decorated Christmas tree! (ours isn't up yet at home). The house was spacious and spotlessly clean! Well heated and a woodburner of you fancy the cosy feel. I honestly couldn't fault it. The owners were lovely and friendly and we are already looking forward to booking again. Lovely location and lovely views!

  • "Cowslip Cottage has been the best self catering cottage we have stayed in!"

The kitchen included every utensil imaginable....I can't think any utensil that was not accounted for! The standard of the decor and furnishings were of a very high standard. Bedlinen was if a good quality and smple towels were provided. Handsoaps and cleaning equipment were also provided which was very reassuring during Covid19. Measures for Covid 19 and staying at the cottage were clearly set out in writing by the owners. Two friendly cockerals greeted us at the front door daily. even tapped with his beak to get attention! The provision of a welcome hamper included a wide range of goodies and fresh eggs from their own hens. The beds were extremely comfy and our son said it was the best sleep he had ever had! The downside was trying to get him out of bed in the morning! The setting of the cottage was stunning...peaceful rolling countryside and farmland. We did not know what tourist attractions would be open following Covid, but we were more than happy just to relax in the cottage surrounded by the breath taking views. The provision of garden table and chairs at the rear of the cottage was another great addition to the facilities offered. We definitely want to return and maybe next time during colder months so that we can use the fire. The hoover system was brilliant. I've only ever seen in it once in a property before (not holiday let) but have never used fascinated our son so much he put the Hoover round three times during our stay! Other reviews do mention the public footpath which runs in front of the cottage but this did not bother us or concern us to see the occasional person/s walking by. Having local walks straight from the cottage doorstep was lovely. The only downside was having to pack up and leave. But we will definitely return to Cowslip cottage.

  • "Cowslip Cottage is an excellent choice for a week’s holiday in the Yorkshire Dales."

From the moment Johnny met us and showed us around we felt at home. The cottage has been maintained, decorated and equipped to an exceptionally high standard and we wanted for nothing. Emily popped by on the first day to check we were OK and to say hello and after that we were left alone to enjoy our holiday but they were both on hand should we need anything. Emily left a great welcome basket with milk, eggs, cheese, biscuits and bread, all local, so much more appreciated than a cheap bottle of wine as many property owners leave. The views from the cottage are beautiful located on a sheep farm, peaceful and out of the way, although walking, sight seeing and shops are within a short drive away. An excellent farm shop, Country Harvest is a short walk away and has a fantastic restaurant.

The owner had thought of everything. Kitchen very well equipped and all spotlessly clean. If i was to be really picky an extra TV in one of the bedrooms would have been nice. However, that is a minor detail on the overall wonderful place Cowslip Cottage is. Highly recommended a visit.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Cowslip Cottage. A well equipped (home from home!), stunning barn conversion overlooking the Yorkshire Dales. Everything about Cowslip Cottage was it now, before someone else does! Our children fell in love with the animals from the neighbouring farm, and our youngest was delighted when one of the chickens visited every day for breakfast. In fact, they named her "Barbara", who was sadly missed when we returned home! A week definitely is not long enough to explore North Yorkshire, and with the Lakes also on your doorstep you could easily stay at Cowslip Cottage for several weeks without missing home.

  • "The property was finished to a very high standard and was very well equipped."

Unfortunately, we older people found the sofas far too low with no neck and back support so relaxing in front of the fire didn't really work for us. We found it quite difficult to be comfortable anywhere for any length of time which is a pity given the other great features of the property. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and well received by us. Thank you.

We have stayed in both Cowslip Cottage and Coppa Hill each has it own unique qualities but both are warm cosy, clean and well equipped. The owners Jonny and Emily went out of their way when the electricity went down with the storm, with bringing us flasks of hot water and offering to let us stay in Cowslip for as long as we needed until the roads were cleared of snow. The bonus for us this holiday was an extra night in a wonderful cottage and stunning area. Thank you Jonny and Emily.
