  • "Lovely little cottage in the middle of no where."

Very quiet. Lovely views over the countryside with the added extra of sheep and cows in the field. The host was lovely very helpful when we needed her. The cottage it's self could do with some updating carpets seem very old and a bigger smart TV would have been great for our evenings in. The bed was very comfy and the shower/ bathroom modern and easy to use. Welcome basket and shower gels/ shampoos were an extra bonus.

Light and airy with wonderful views towards Ingleborough. Ideally placed for exploring the western side of the Dales and not far from the Lakes. We particularly enjoyed our visit to Kirkby Lonsdale, Dentdale, Parcevall Gardens, Arnside and Blackwell House by Windermere (a superb example of Arts and Crafts design).

Just perfect for a long weekend away to explore Yorkshire and The Lake District. The cottage itself was excellently presented and there was even a welcome basket of groceries from the owner. When I phoned to arrange key collection the owner gave me some local information regarding shops, pubs etc. All in all we had a fabulous break and we would definitely visit again.,

The location was idyllic. We could not fault anything and thank you for the welcome basket. A word of advice. Take care when joining the fast flowing traffic at the end of the drive as the bushes obstruct the view considerably. This is probably a council responsibility.

Very 'roomy' for two people, excellent facilities and all the 'little' touches you don't always get. Fantastic setting, with relaxing views from the balcony, Ingleton 20/25 minute walk, other places an easy drive. Would I recommend this property? Definitely. Would I book this property again? • "We were amazed to find that the cottage was in such a wonderful location- right beneath the Ingleton Mountain."

We stayed home most evenings because the all-round views were too good to miss. As an artist I was able to take home some sketches without having to search for a subject. A glass of wine on the balcony and a wonderful sunset were the perfect ending to enjoyable visits to local scenic attractions: The Waterfall walk - 7 miles- very enjoyable, Walk through tree-lined paths, up and over the lime-stone steps parallel to the river. We didn't make the whole way, being over eighty, but still enjoyable. The river at makes for an ideal contrast- a relaxing day with easy walking along the river banks or sitting on the benches provided. It makes an ideal picnic space with the added bonus of an ice cream van and much entertainment watching the school children diving and thrashing about in the water. The town itself is small and has interesting shops and choices of cafe/bars/restaurants. Ingleton itself has a wonderful food and gift shop with award winning butchers, sandwiches, freshly-made ready foods, pies, cakes and fruit. I really didn't feel the need to cook- in spite of the excellent cooking facilities at the cottage.

Really large bedroom with plenty of draw and hanging space. Kitchen very well equipped and I was able to find all the dishes and utensils I required. The location is excellent as there is lots to do in the area. There is also a deli type shop within walking distance with a small cafe so vegetable and meat etc can be purchased here or alternatively Booths supermarket in Kirby Longsdale has an excellent choice. Restaurant information was provided by the owner and we tried Avanti out and had a good meal. If all Sykes Cottages are of a similar standard, as reflected in the price I presume then we will hopefully use you again.

  • "This is a beautiful cottage in an excellent location."

My only little quibble is the bathroom which in my opinion lets the cottage down. The bath is too small for hot soaks after long walks and the shower is poor and would only run very hot or cold! The first problem probably can't be rectified in the space available but the second could.
