“The property was in a wonderful setting with amazing views the single track to the property was a bit of a draw back but this was pointed out in the spec.”

The place easily accommodates 8 adults we didn't feel cramped at all. However the place needs a thorough clean, decorating and maintenance. We didn't use the downstairs shower as it didn't look clean at all, probably not helped by the brown staining from the water which is from a bore hole notices advised due to the septic tank no chemicals could be used however lemon juice and bicarbonate are good natural cleaners. The kitchen was spacious as was the table but feeding 8 adults with just one oven (the microwave did have a grill function but didn't seem that efficient) wasnt easy. The fridge could do with being bigger or a second one in the utility would have been useful we resorted to a cool box outside luckily it was over New Year so was cold enough for milk etc. Obviously it was New Year so you expect to pay more but at over 1600 for a week I think a higher standard of decor and cleaning is in order. I would recommend the place for larger parties but not at the price we paid so would advise avoiding Christmas, New Year or school holidays.

About the location

FOURSTONES

Settle 12 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 12 miles.

Beautifully situated in the Forest of Bowland, Fourstones sits on the edge of Burnmoor, high above the traditional Yorkshire market town of Bentham, with the Great Stone of Fourstones standing on the boundary where Lancashire meets Yorkshire. This large boulder is a relic of the Ice Age and has become a distinctive feature of the landscape, which also includes spectacular views over the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland. To the north lies the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the famous Three Peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent, while the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, stretches away to the south and offers unspoilt landscapes and a range of visitor facilities. The area boasts limestone pavements, scars, caves and open moors with wonderful cycle tracks and walks. Nearby Bentham has a range of pubs and restaurants serving fine beers and good food, as well as a variety of shops and a Post Office. This peaceful area is nicely off the beaten track, yet the market towns of Settle, Kirkby Lonsdale, Skipton and Kendal are all within easy driving distance.
