  • "This is a lovely cottage, well positioned for access to the lakes."

Cosy and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is well equipped and the log stove gives out plenty of heat on a chilly evening. The beds are comfy and the shower excellent. If walking, there is an outdoor laundry to dry wet clothes, although that was not sufficiently heated to do that in winter - we got soaked on Scafell Pike. Just 15 mins away is the town of Ulverston, which has plenty of restaurants and a large M&S Food. Overall, a lovely place to stay and curl up in front of the log burner with a glass of wine.

  • "Pearl Cottage is an excellent place for a break - immaculately decorated, comfortable and well located."

The owner provided detailed information prior to arrival. The cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing stay, including comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen.

  • "Ideal property for a romantic getaway for a loved up couple as very snug and cozy with everything you need, including a lovely welcome pack of tea, coffee, eggs and milk!"

We have a Labrador and between the three of us we "filled the room" which might make the place a squeeze for anyone with kids although we have never stayed in a place with three toilets so no need to queue if spending a penny!pity no real outside sitting space other than the path up to the cottage although that is clearly mentioned in the "brief". Pity weather was pretty terrible but that's just the chance you take with the lakes in October. Great communication from the owner and Sykes and would recommend the cottage wholeheartedly for a romantic escape.

The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need. A lovely welcome pack awaited us, and owner on hand if any help was needed. The situation is handy for the coast, lakes coniston and windermere, and grizedale forest. A comfortable cottage in a central location.

  • "A lot of though and effort has gone into making this cottage a wonderful holiday home."

Our only problem was the wifi speeds of only 16mbps and wouldn’t have been a problem if we were able to tether from our phone but there is no mobile phone signal so this was difficult for us as we had some work to do. It would have been helpful to know the phone signal issue in advance. The cottage was nicely decorated, well equipped and clean, with comfortable beds and the owners were very helpful. The location is stunning with beautiful views but there was a lot more traffic than we had expected on the adjacent road.

  • "The cottage is well located."

Quiet enough to relax in peaceful surroundings but handy to get to lots of places you want to see. The cottage is beautiful and felt homely from the moment you walked in but modern with extremely tasteful decor.. All the rooms were welcoming and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Spotlessly clean too. Separate laundry room was great when we needed clean clothes. Bed was very comfortable and we slept better than at home! . There was a lovely welcome hamper which was a nice touch and communication was superb at all stages. Really have no hesitation at all in recommending Pearl Cottage. Thank you to its owners for creating a lovely cottage for a lovely restful week.

  • "Pearl cottage was a perfect retreat for the three of us (including our giant schnauzer)."

The cottage is homely with all the facilities to meet your needs. The laundry room was great and the high pressure shower was most appreciated each evening. The location of the property is perfect for exploring Coniston, Windermere and the beaches near Ulverston. There are two pubs within walking distance however we didn’t explore these as it meant walking along the road in the pitch darkness (it would be fine in daylight). I would definitely stay there again.

  • "Lovely cottage."

It was a bit more rural than we expected (tiny village) and it’s definitely more than a 10 minute walk to the pub. We found the cottage quite chilly. You need to provide spare lightbulbs as the one in the main bedroom was not working.

This is such a little gem! The facilities are spot on and has everything you need regardless of the sort of holiday you are after from your trip to the Lakes. It is 5 minutes away from Ulverston so shops are not far away but you are surrounded by the beauty you can expect in the lakes. It was a wonderful place to stay, clean, well kitted out and was perfect for us and our bikes. We booked our next stay here as we were leaving to go home! You won't regret staying here.

Catered for all our needs, fully equipped - like home from home. Not many walks from the cottage but 20 mins up to Coniston. Two pubs within walking distance serving food. Only downside is no local shop close by. All in all lovely stay.

  • "We really enjoyed our week at Pearl Cottage and were very lucky to have fantastic weather- quite a rare commodity in the Lake District."

The cottage was warm, comfortable and well presented, filled with gorgeous ornaments that we wish we had at home! Although, it would be especially good if there was more seating available in the living room area. The kitchen was well kitted out, suitable for self catering. However, we did treat ourselves to dinner out on a couple of occasions in Ulverston, which was lovely. We took our dog and she thoroughly enjoyed her stay as much as we did! There are lots of walks nearby with beautiful scenery and the neighbours were extremely welcoming- giving us recommendations of places to visit. The cottage was a relaxing environment to return to after a long day out, sitting down to a glass of wine and watching the sunset. We will definitely return again in the future.

There are a number of pubs in the local vicinity and shops in Greenodd including a village store, bakery, fish and chip shop and wine merchants. Ulverston, the nearby town is a really nice place with lots of great eateries and a particularly good fishmongers. If you're a Laurel and Hardy fan then a visit to the museum is well worth it. Other attractions nearby included the aquarium and car museum. Pearl Cottage is a very quiet location and was just what we needed.
