  • "We had a lovely stay at the Shippon, it’s such a beautiful cottage with all the amenities you need."

Although a bit remote this is exactly what we needed and it’s perfect for relaxing. The owners are so helpful and friendly and made our stay so comfortable. We hope to return in the future and definitely made use of the soap/farm shop next door.

  • "Lovely little cottage and really nice to have so much room in the bedroom and bathroom too."

Hot water is definitely slow to warm up (as warned) and a wifi connection issue meant that our Samsung phones refused to connect to the router because of an update issue, but we managed fine. But no issues with the place or its appearance. We were also able to book sausages and eggs for our breakfast from a local farmshop, and we given handmade soaps and shampoo too - really lovely touches. Thank you!

  • "We've just had the most lovely stay at The Shippon; well equipped, very clean and a super comfy bed; we loved it!"

The hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and were very helpful; staying during lambing season gave us a real taste of farming life in the Lake District. The Shippon is a great choice for you if you want a peaceful bolthole to stay in that is also in close driving distance to the likes of Coniston Old Man, Tarn Hows and the south lakeland coast, with Ulverston being only 15 / 20 mins drive way for stocking up etc. We'll definitely return!

it also took a long time for hot water to come though it would be good idea for the company to tell people about heating in hand book there can you to read

  • "Our 5 day holiday was absolutely lovely."

Maria is the best host and so welcoming. The cottage is beautifully located and we felt like home, so nicely decorated! Very well equipped kitchen was one of the things I always value in this type of holiday. We highly appreciate the fact that the accommodation was pet friendly so our lovely shepherd dog could come with us. All together we will definitely be coming back and recommending the Shippon to our friends.

  • "Excellent accommodation."

Everthing you are likely to need to enjoy your holiday in this interesting, cosy cottage. Well placed for Coniston and the Southern Lakes. Easy access to the coast. Lovely unspoilt countryside all around. For the last part of your journey your sat nav may want to fix your destination on the west side of the River Crake rather than on the east. Access from the A5084 to The Shippon at Nibthwaite Grange Farm is via Lowick Bridge. (You can't beat the old Ordnance Survey map !)

The farm is very secluded and a lovely for a weekend retreat. Perfect for exploring the south lakes but maybe a little more difficult for central and northern areas due to location

The Shippon was perfect for it. Spotlessly clean with everything you could wish for, so well equipped. and a bed that just cuddles you :) Maria and John where so friendly and welcoming, I WILL BE GOING BACK. On Christmas Eve, Maria even offered to cook me a Christmas Lunch!!!! If you do get there also ask about the Meat for sale, the venison is amazing :) I unreservedly recommend this cottage, simply perfect
