  • "Lovely, welcoming and well-equipped cottage and it is in the perfect position for hiking and for local amenities."

We really enjoyed our stay and would happily stay there again. An outside light would be helpful at this time of year but we managed fine with torches.

  • "The property has a roomy pleasantly laid out ground floor."

Generally clean, but has some problems with black mould on the silicon sealer in the shower room and bathroom. Cleaning is a quick whip round as there were mass cobwebs in corners. Noticed when plugging in a charger in socket or use of the toilet brush. The shower room suffers from the corroded external down pipe taking grey water from the bathroom and rainwater leaking. The water is penetrating the wall and pooling on the floor at the side of the w.c. Photos available. The shower temperature controller is sized solid and one has to adjust the temperature at the boiler!! The glasses that are used are clean the others were not. The matresses are basic giving the ability to feel the springs when laying on the mattress.

Plenty of space for a group of friends and the beds and bathrooms were all lovely and clean. Very quiet location yet an easy walk to Malham Cove and into the village. It was very comfortable. Thankyou to the owner who allowed us a later checkout as we were doing a marathon walk for Macmillan.

Well equipped, clean and very comfortable. Perfect for our family celebration. The owner has left wine and snacks as a welcome plus tea, coffee, sugar and milk. So thoughtful- thank you! We will 100% recommend this cottage and hopefully stay again.

  • "Excellent location within easy reach of sites and pubs."

Ample off road parking which is at a premium in Malham. Happy with the cottage on the whole which was well equipped. However, we couldn't find the BBQ which was listed which was a nuisance as we had taken food for that. Also, frying pan needs to be replaced as not non-stick. Would agree with previous occupants, 9am check out is a bit too early, 10am would be acceptable. Otherwise, very happy with the cottage.

  • "Overall everything was exactly as we expect."

The location is great for walking, confortable place to stay for a family size booking. It was perfect for our trip. We only have two complaints really and that is firstly the check out time, which we were aware of before hand, but was still not very convenient, especially at such a high cost for two nights. It means you can't set yourself up for the day (with their being 7 of us) with breakfast and shower and packing before leaving without getting up at the crack of dawn. Considering the late check in time, you would think 11 or even 10am wouldn't be that big of a stretch and would give guests a better experience. Secondly and finally, the plug socket in the living room near the TV is in a dangerous condition and I would suggest it needs urgent attention. The plug socket crackles when turned on and doesn't maintain consistent connection. It's potentially both a fire and shock hazard.

  • "This house gets a 5 star rating on all fronts from us - but anyone expecting 5* hotel standards should think again."

This is a BRILLIANT base for walking the Dales - convenient, everything works, it's warm, it enables sociabiity for a larger group, vey workable kitchen. Yes it could do with a make-over in terms of decor and furniture, but for goodness sake... and yes, the controls for the heating are a bit fiddly, but again... for goodness sake!! My one moan is with the Sykes system not the cottage. I don't think it reasonable to have a party of 5 out by 9.00am. It puts a damper on the night before and effectively reduces a 'three night' stay to a tight two day stay. Departure time of 10.00 wd be reasonable. That said the lady in charge was kind enough to text me earlier than the in-time to let me know it was all ready. Another star for that!!!!

Well equipped and comfortable and with excellent wifi and mobile signal too. We enjoyed eating in the garden at the picnic tables with incredible views over the Dales. The kitchen was a little limited for a party of 6 who loved cooking (could do with larger fridge space and more casserole dishes/large saucepans etc) but we managed perfectly well. A special thank you to Pam, who was so helpful when our car broke down and we needed to leave bags in storage at the property for an extra day. We would heartily recommend Town Head Farm and hope to return soon.

  • "The cottage was tired and run down - tv didn’t work properly, no controller for the DVD player."

.. it was quite dirty and just generally unloved. This wasn’t cheap either... When we arrived we were greeted by a bottle of wine which was nice but all that was undone by the fact the heating nor water hadn’t been put on and with elderly folk we had to put it on and leave for the pub returning an hour later. The house was Damp - the radiator in the kitchen didn’t work - the furniture smelt of damp too To the people that own the cottage - if you can’t be bothered please don’t take peoples money as it is unfair ? Malham is beautiful and this is perfectly located to get out and about. - not for young kids as there is nothing to do without a properly working tv or working DVD and no phone signal or internet - there is no WiFi at all - if you go, take lots of toys and puzzles but I would seriously think about going unless you are just using it as a hub for walking - if you are the hostels would be far cheaper and offer more I’ve used Sykes for years but I’m really disappointed- I never leave reviews but I feel I should here to warn other away

  • "In general the house was OK but there were problems and I certainly would have been unhappy if the weather was inclement as the place clearly has a damp problem."

The over was not very clean, many of the pots and pans, crockery and glasses had to be washed before use as they were not very clean. It was not as child friendly as we hoped, the stairgate was not secure and the children quickly worked out you only had to flip the latch to escape. The garden was great for the children but the gate was broken and we had to barricade it to avoid escape I also had to cut back lots of stinging nettles so the children did not hurt themselves as they played. Dinning room chairs had some tacks sticking out of the side of the seats which caught on clothes and little ones. The downstairs shower room had a terrible condensation problem, even letting the extractor run on did not clear it. The shower door did not fit properly and left puddles on the floor. I would not recommend this particular property, a disappointment as Sykes have not disappointed before. We did have a good stay but the weather was brilliant so did not spend a great deal of time indoors.

Although the beds are needing the mattresses changing as they were a bit uncomfortable, hard and we could feel the springs. It's a quaint cottage placed in an ideal position to do all the local walks to Mallham Cove, Mallham Tarn and the two waterfalls, We were very lucky with the weather as it was sunny and warm all week. The two pubs served very nice food and drinks. We only had to use the car once to go to Settle to go to the supermarket for food. We will definately come back in the future.

Very spacious and a great base for Malham and surrounding areas. I'd use again. Additionally the holiday was a real treat. It's a small thing ( and only a small thing as made aware from owner) however there was no gas central heating available for the weekend we arrived and the upstairs rooms were pretty unusable as so cold. Trust me I'm from Scotland - I know cold!!!! So until gas man arrived on Sunday we had no real heating in a big cold property. As I say Pamela ( owner) made us aware of it in advance by writing a note to explain and completely outwith her control which I appreciate. I totally understood but not really my concern for a property rental advertising GCH. That said was great after that concern. Probably only thing missing is Sky TV and internet but I like my electronics and appreciate dales is a little traditional which is equally important/ nice

It was perfect. Great location. Parked the car when we got here and didn't have to use it again. Well equipped cottage. Had everything we needed. Lots of space. A great bonus was having no wifi and patchy phone signal as it meant we weren't all on our devices all weekend. Ate at The Buck Inn one night which was good and a 5 min walk away. Walked up Malham Tarn and Cove which was great. Having the cottage right at the end of the walk was even better. Would def recommend.
