  • "We really enjoyed our week at Dairy Cottage and hope to return!"

The cottage was very cosy and clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. As others have mentioned it's one of the best places we've stayed in. The location was a great base for walks in the Dales, Lakes and North Pennines. The owners were very friendly and on hand if we needed anything.

  • "I stayed at the Dairy Cottage for 5 nights."

Seldom have I stayed somewhere and not desired to return to my own home, but I think this was the exception. Dairy Cottage is on a farm, it is essentially betwixt the Lakes and the Dales, and this was a major factor in booking it, and neither places are too far away. Following Google's directions will get you lost, so speak to David for the directions, instead! Nonetheless, it's not too far from the local town and the co-op is about a 3-4 minute drive down the road, as well as there being a well love Pub right around the corner. Upon arriving, I found the cottage to be exactly, and I mean that earnestly, exactly as described, inside and out. It was wonderfully clean and tastefully decorated to a high standard, much as you might expect at the more expensive hotels in the centre of a large city. The difference was that it was very much a home, and I felt as such for the entirety of my stay. Despite staying during Storm Arwen, the cottage is well insulated and the heaters were great, but the best parts of the night were putting on the stove, which works brilliantly. There is everything in the kitchen you'd need for a meal proper and all of it works as intended. The bedroom I mainly stayed in was the master, and the mattress was perfect for my back, comfortable and welcoming, and the pillows were very soft! The bathrooms are small exercises in pulchritude and the showers are strong and warm quickly. As you are on a farm, you should expect to hear the cows sing now and again, but it is not intrusive. Lastly, David and Julie were the best of hosts. You made my stay one that was memorable and warm, and I'm thankful for how generous and kind you are. I would, and indeed will recommend the Dairy to anyone and everyone seeking a cottage or place to stay. Of all the places I have visited, this was the best. Thank you.

  • "Probably the best safe-catering property we've ever stayed in."

We loved it, and didn't want to leave! Incredibly well-appointed, and so welcoming and homely. The bonus for us was that our kids loved it too, and loved having their own bedroom on a separate floor to us (as did we!!). Would highly recommend, and hope to return.

The cottage gives easy access to the stunning countryside and many fascinating towns and castles of Cumbria. Pendragon Castle and it's mythical Arthurian connections gave us particular joy. The extra welcome touches provided by the owners were much appreciated. You have our confident recommendation. Thankyou

It was so spacious, cosy, comfortable with really good quality furnishings, a huge utility room for drying boots and wet clothes, was spotlessly clean, and owners on hand if we needed anything. It was a wonderful place to stay.

  • "The whole experience."

The cottage is beyond absolutely perfect. It is very well equipped and spotless. The position is perfect and the back courtyard is a sun trap and so beautiful, there is really no need to go out. Dave and Julie and their cowman, David, are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. They even took time out of their busy lives to put up with me seeing their cows and explaining how the farm had worked when it was a dairy. I cannot praise it enough and would date them a 150% if I was allowed. Perfect.

  • "Absolutely brilliant cottage, perfect in practically every way."

Immaculately clean, everything seemed very new and almost unused! Excellent facilities and equipment, beautiful spacious bathrooms with lots of places for ones own toiletries. Lovely furnishings, great decor, comfortable beds. (If pushed I'd say the only slight criticism was the lack of practical hanging space for clothes). Unusual layout made it all the more interesting. Gorgeous little rear enclosed courtyard/patio - such a sun trap. Convenient location. Lots of walking nearby. Local pub. So wonderful I could happily move in and live here! Highly recommended.

  • "The Dairy Cottage was absolutely faultless and fabulous."

The owners have gone to a lot of effort to make it what it is and every small little touch was well appreciated. Minute details like how the towels smelt, the diffusers everywhere, a complimentary bottle of fizz and biscuits, the luxurious bedding etc etc the list goes on. We stayed here as a base for exploring the Lakes and it was such a comfy choice. My wife and I simply cannot recommend it enough. Absolutely superb!

  • "The cottage was lovely and I think actually nicer than in the pictures."

It was warm, cosy and beautifully decorated to a very high standard. There there were only a few downsides: - the directions on the app and email were not very detailed at all and not clear where we should go at the end of the lane. There needs to be far more detail on there as, if a local man hadn't seen us and directed us, I would have had to ring the owner/contact to find out where to go - similar to the above, there was no signage to show that Dairy Cottage was down the lane. There was a small sign saying 'private lane, no access' or something similar but this is where we needed to go! - the parking is very tight and not helped when the owner of the farm opposite parked their car opposite the driveway. - given that everyone needs to wash their hands more, I was surprised not to find any soap at any of the sinks (apart from a small pack of miniature toiletries in the upstairs shower room.) Sanitiser was available but not soap which I thought was odd

Everything you could possibly need was there. All clean and new looking and very comfortable. The stove was lovely to sit in front of in the evening with its warming cosy glow. The WiFi was not the best. However not a problem for us...might be for families visiting with teens. The owner assured us he was going to rectify that particular issue. We enjoyed some lovely walks. The area has lots of walks with fabulous views and points of interest. The local pub was excellent and welcoming. We really enjoyed our week in Dairy Cottage.
