  • "Super location for walking."

Sufficient size for 4 and quirky layout. Adequate parking space. Struggled with oven, insufficient supply of crockery and pans, especially with using dishwasher. Required hooks for towels in bathroom and more toilet rolls. Could not locate a sweeping brush for kitchen floor and felt guilty for not been able to give a sweep, especially after muddy, wet walks. Telly network needs updating. Could only find doggy poo bags, when searching for bin liners for bedding upon departing. Needs owner to use for a week to determine making more user friendly, they were Very pleasant n helpful.

It was perfect for us. If I had to he overly picky, and these certainly aren't show stoppers, the WiFi was a little temperamental and the TV reception really poor.

Set nice and away from main roads so it's super peaceful. It's surroundings are beautiful and seeing and hearing all of the animals is lovely and comforting. The hosts are super friendly and just the loveliest people. It's located in a great place to explore the Lake District, only 30 to 60 minutes away from Keswick and Windermere.

  • "Lovely cottage (The Granary Kirkby Lonsdale) - warm, cosy and very well equipped."

Great to have off-road parking, in a stunning isolated country setting. Beautiful views from the kitchen and bedroom windows. Really enjoyed our stay. Some small points: Would have liked the heating to be on a bit longer in the evenings. No double beds - find a single bed a bit narrow (not used to it!).

Only drawback for people in their 70s like us was the circular staircase which would be difficult for anyone with mobility problems. Otherwise it was superb and spotlessly clean. Well equippe and spacious. Well heated.

  • "We really enjoyed out short break at Th Granary."

My young grandson loved the stables, the owners were really lovely and were there if needed but didn’t intrude. The views were stunning. The kitchen was just what a family needed large table to laugh and giggle round. If you have young children there is a spiral staircase but with innovative thinking this didn’t prove too much of problem. Beds are very very comfortable. Shower room compact but does the job. On the whole this is a great base to explore everywhere, Cumbria, Yorkshire and Lancashire as you can be in each county in minutes. Although the weather was cracking the flags we did everything we had planned to. Many thanks to the Capsticks

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".
