"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Thimble Cottage."
It’s small but so well thought out and finished to a very good standard. We would definitely stay again! Ps: wine and chocolates were a lovely gesture, thank you!
"We had a lovely 7 day stay at Thimble Cottage."
It was clean, comfortable everything we needed was provided. We recommend a holiday in this beautiful cottage.
"Very pleasant stay for two of us!"
Cosy and has a well equipped kitchen for making some basic breakfast and simple meals. The drive to the premise is also wide enough and smooth, not like other tiny country roads in the same area.
"I spent a lovely 3 weeks at this cottage."
The owners were lovely, thoughtful, and extremely helpful, and they have some really cute and friendly animals that make you feel right at home. The space was cozy and comfortable, and I really appreciated the wood-burning stove. I would absolutely love to stay in this charming cottage again one day.
"Excellent for two clean and cosy"
"Arriving in dreadful weather, the cottage wasn't warm on arrival after a 7 hour journey that was disappointing."
however we realised the control on the wall for the underfloor heating wasn't on the next day so we turned it on( or up)and it was fine after. Neither of us liked the stairs we found them narrow and with the thick carpet I was slipping in my slippers everytime I went down them maybe just bare wood would give better grip , the bedroom made me feel giddy I felt like I was falling but we knew what it looked like on booking so our fault I didn't realise I would feel like that I imagine alot of people are fine with it . Not been able to stand straight due to the ceiling shape was awkward for us again it's how the cottage is , you cannot change that . Our next door neighbours arrived after us and had a swearing shouting row in the early hours and he was swearing shouting saturday afternoon slamming door/s , we didn't know what to do as everyone can have arguments it's hardly the cottage owners fault we decide to stay Sunday and go home early Monday ( instead of friday) however Sunday morning the next door neighbours left so we stayed. There are kitchen cupboards but each one had items in so as we had brought our food with us it was awkward storing things away l put the loaf of bread in the saucepan cupboard. Each day I had used a saucepan and colander from that cupboard (unaware rodents was likely to be walking over these items. )on Thursday morning I opened it to get the bread out and the bread and plastic wrapper was ripped around bread and the seeds of the bread scattered in the cupboard obviously rodents / mice , I phoned the cottage owner and he sent a maintenence man in while we was out for the day ( as we had pre- paid tickets for muncaster castle) they acted on it swiftly and the owner apologised ( on the phone and in a text- telling me they had put mouse traps behind the kick boards and cleaned up the mess of bread etc but didn't see anything) unfortunately I am absolutely terrified of rodents so that was extremely stressful for me I cannot help how I feel about them- I am aware these things happen sometimes - we lived for years in a very remote cottage and now live in the countryside next to the sea so I realise rodents get into places but it just totally ruined the holiday for me especially I spent all night and evening listening for mice and we went home - as planned as end of holiday on Friday but left at 4.20am as I couldn't relax anymore . I guess we was unfortunate but we had looked forward to the holiday so much - as anyone does but it wasn't how we would have liked it to be Also the living space could do with better lighting at night it was really dull I realise we sound like moaners , we chose the cottage knowing how it's layout was etc but all the other incidents just ruined it . We wouldn't go back.
My sincere apologies you experienced this Alan, thank you for your comments, I would have been more than happy to assist you with the heating. Due to the surroundings, mice can appear in the property as can any woodland creature. We don't have a vermin or mice issue - I apologise if this caused any issues. Our maintenance man has installed the necessary requirements to reduce this from happening. Property Owner
"Lovely little cottage, has everything you could need, ( no freezer though) but not really an issue for us."
Very well equipped, very clean. Was an absolute pleasure to stay. Nice quiet location. Approx 10 minute drive from Ulverston. We would 100% stay in thimble cottage again.
"We have stayed at Ewedale Farm twice before in the past year, both times in Laith Cottage, we absolutely loved our stays there, so this time we thought we would try Thimble Cottage."
We were so looking forward to it. Thimble cottage is clean and comfortable and well equipped with everything you might need for your stay. However, the Cottage is very dark and would benefit from a few extra table lamps. Upstairs, where this a very small mirror, it is particularly dark, making it almost impossible to use the mirror. The "stairs" to the mezzanine floor are more like a ladder, very, very steep, extremely narrow and definitely not wide enough to place your whole foot on. I'm not keen on heights and l found it particularly difficult coming down. The shower us terrible, hardly any water pressure and difficult to regulate. Sorry, but its just not up to the same standard as Laith Cottage,we definitely won't return.
"Unfortunately we had to cut short our holiday due to family illness we managed 3 nights stay at the cottage"
"What an amazing weekend away!"
Thank you Ste and Carol for making our stay awesome! The cottage was lovely, with a cosy fire place and a full modern kitchen, the welcome bottle of wine and milk was a lovely touch. The milk bottle came in handy considering we arrived late at night with a toddler. The cottage gives a very cabin like feeling, which we loved. All the instructions were written clearly and help sheet provided was really useful. The BBQ area was great as well. Highly recommended.
"Had an amazing stay at thimble cottage,it was immaculately clean and the milk and wine was a lovely touch."
We would recommend this cottage to family and friends.

Absolutely spotless, credit to the owners, only thing that would stop us from staying again unfortunately us the very steep/narrow steps up to the bedroom

Lots of walks and beaches within a short drive although limited walking from the door.

"Our break away at thimble cottage was very pleasant indeed."
Absolutely stunning location. The cottage itself was warm cosy and inviting if I was going to fault anything about our stay I would say please change the shower because it was rubbish scolding hot for 5 secs Luke warm for 5 secs then freezing cold for a minute. Sorry for nit picking oh and the towel rail did not work other than that superb. Regards Ruairi.
"Fantastic cottage in a perfect location, would highly recommend."
"Lovely little cottage, every amenity you need."
Helpful owner would definitely stay again.
Many thanks for your lovely feedback and we hope to see you again in the future Property Owner
"Stairs bit steep"
"Every thing was perfect even the weather will be back many thanks"
"Wow! What a fantastic week spent in a beautiful corner of Cumbria."
Ewedale is pictureque, perfectly situated for exploration of the Lakes and South Lakeland coastlines and we would highly recommend a stay. The owners are very welcoming and clearly run a tight ship (clearly labelled facilities including a great recycle shed) with everything you need within the cottage (e.g. a fully equipped kitchen and very comfortable bedding) and they leave you to unwind after a day of adventures, without any intrusion. Thank you for a glorious week, we would love to come back!
"The cottage is beautiful, it’s really well kept and you can tell a lot of love, time and money has been invested in it."
Would definitely recommend. In a lovely quiet area but close by to local amenities.
"Absolutely loved our stay at thimble cottage."
The bed is so comfy, and the rest of the cottage is extremely cosy. Owner Steve is extremely welcoming and kindly had a small bottle of milk and a bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay so much that 2 nights into it, we had booked to return again two months later. Would definitely reccomend.

"A lovely cottage in a perfect location."
The owners Steve and Carol were the most helpful people you can imagine. Nothing was a problem. Would be happy to visit again when the M5 & M6 roadworks are completed. Mike Bissex
"Thimble Cottage is very well presented and comfortable."
It is located in a very rural setting and offers easy access to the Southern Lakes area and lower Lake District. There are friendly cat visitors which we found delightful. A secluded patio and relaxed atmosphere at the farm made the holiday a very enjoyable experience. Ulverston is close by and a lovely small town.
"Fantastic quit place to stay and would definitely go back again; albeit the wife took a little time to get use to the cows !"
"Thimble cottage was beautiful!"
Very clean and perfect location for exploring the lakes! The owners were very helpful throughout our stay. Will definitely be coming back
"The cottage was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful we had the best holiday by far."
We would highly recommend it to anyone that loves peace the views are fantastic. you are not far from ulverston which has all the amenities that you require
"Lovely comfortable cottage in a quiet, beautiful location."
The wine and milk left for us were a nice thought, and we found everything we could need for a relaxing weekend in the lakes. Thank you!
"Lovely cottage with everything you could need for a self-catered stay."
Only issue was steep narrow stairs which previous reviews had already mentioned. Underfloor heating was great and much needed after a day outdoors, but sometimes the thermostat went a bit crazy and repeatedly clicked on/off which was a little annoying at night!
"The accommodation was very good."
Nice quiet location. Warm welcome. Only downside might be the steep narrow stairs to the mezzanine bedroom.
"An ideal location for venturing into the lakes and visiting Barrow in Furness, Walney island and Morecambe bay."
Unfortunately winter holidays in the lakes can be tricky with ice and snow, so be prepared for the worst.........
"Beautiful cottage in a wonderful location and close to many popular lake destinations."
We had a fabulous relaxing week away and would recommend this cottage for any couple wanting the same- stunning
"Beautiful location quiet and peaceful."
Cottage was superb and the welcome bottle of wine was really appreciated.
