Visit the Trough of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or head into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park with its famous limestone crags and the unending dry stone walls. Locally, the Courtyard provides an excellent Bistro, tea room, award-winning cheese and showrooms with locally-made furniture. Settle is a perfect Dales village with a thriving community, excellent old pubs, a central square with weekly market and access to the not to be missed Settle-Carlisle railway. A little further down the valley, Skipton, host to the 2014 Tour De France, offers a great day out with its Norman castle, canal trips and award-winning high street. A typical Dales village with picturesque stone cottages and gently rolling countryside. A haven of peace and quiet and yet only a few miles from the busy little market town of Settle. Rathmell offers walking, cycling, and horseriding, and is an ideal spot from which to explore this lovely area. Visit Settle to enjoy the weekly market, or get out and about amongst the limestone crags which make up the landscape around this part of the National Park. Close to Settle is Giggleswick, famous for its beautiful chapel. Skipton and Malham are within easy reach, while further afield is the stunning Lake District National Park. A lovely village, and a great base for enjoying this beautiful region.
