Only minor problems , outside light not working but fixed straight away 10 out of 10. No mains plug near dressing tables for straighteners etc. Great spa bath but only enough hot water for one bath without waiting for water to reheat. As said only minor things would not stop us stopping again . Also there is a wood backing on to the site great for letting the dogs off for a run

The property

Elm Lodge is a Scandinavian-style lodge property located within hotel grounds near Grange-over-Sands. With open plan living and its own sauna, this property has access to the facilities of the Woodlands Hotel, making it perfect for a restful small family holiday in the south of the Lake District. The living area of the lodge is open plan in nature, with its lodge furnishings giving it a cosy feel.

The sitting and dining sections both enjoy views over the grounds, courtesy of patio doors, and, with a fully equipped kitchen, you can be sure that you won't miss a thing while keeping the family fed and watered.

The comfortable bedrooms, a double and a twin, retain the lodge theme, with log-effect headboards.

To complete the theme to perfection, there is the luxury of your very own one-person sauna within the bathroom. Outside, the lodge has garden furniture for a restful drink on your balcony area.

It is also one of nine lodges within the hotel grounds, meaning that you can take advantage of the hotel amenities, including the restaurant and bar, as well as enjoying the peaceful woodland walks available from your doorstep. The seaside charm of Grange-over-Sands is just three miles away, offering a range of shops and amenities for your trip and the opportunity for a gentle stroll along the promenade. About the location

Cartmel 2 miles; Lake Windermere 8 miles; Kendal 10 miles.

The charming Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay and offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England. Formerly a small fishing village, the introduction of the Furness Railway transformed Grange-over-Sands into a fashionable Edwardian resort. Today, the town has much to offer the visitor including a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and excellent bird watching. Just a short drive away are Lake Windermere (8 miles), the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many, and the home of sticky toffee pudding, Cartmel, with its famous racecourse and the L’Enclume restaurant, which has been voted the 4th best restaurant in the UK. Other attractions in the area include Levens Hall, with its Elizabethan Hall and world famous topiary gardens, Sizergh Castle, a National Trust medieval house and gardens, and Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country house. Set amidst the southern lakes, the attractive town of Grange-over-Sands makes a superb base from which to enjoy the whole of this magical area.
